Thread: Land anywhere... discuss
Let's start out simple... Your in space and want to land in your player city or any player city.
As long as it's not a travel to feature , why not?
You would appear next to the shuttle station of that town and you would be able to take off from that shuttle station while your ship is there too.
Landing at Guild halls also would be great to have.
Best idea I hear sofar was that when landing you had to pick a region. Then you would get a top-down view (like the one you get when placing buildings), and a generic version of your ship to place like a building. 1 lot to park a fighter and 2 lots for POB.The POB should ofcourse be enterable when parked.
But I settle for player city starports.
I'll settle for Player City starports that get associated with a particular NPC Starport. That way, if your ship is in a player city starport, and it goes *piff*, your ship is SOMEWHERE. In a truly cool world, you would a) see people's ships on the ground in starports, as they bring their ship out of storage, then walk to the landing pad to board. No griefing ships with ground combat, of course....but shooting you on the WAY there is fine.
Same thing in player city starports, except you get a message *delivering your ship from the hanger at %CITY%, it will arrive in 30 seconds* or some such.
I was discussing with a friend few months ago how it would be "landing anywhere". i had the idea that master pilots should get this ability. maybe a level - ability implementation can make it more effective for all level pilots.
each completed (piloting) tier should give the pilota new landing ability.
1- simple system
tier3: land at shuttleports
tier4: land atguildhalls
ace: land anywhere
2- advanced system
levelingthe landing ability: since its a part of pilot skills
each tier improves the landing ability. the pilot can call a landing map (with the players on-ground WPs)if you are near enough to a planet the zones in the map are available to land. the higher level the landing ability the smaller thezones and the landing is more precise. ace pilots should land very very precise. the map can show in red color spots where you can't land (buildings, other ships etc. and green for open spots. if the zone has no green spot landing in this zoneis impossible --> just like the on top building system.) you should get a WP of your ship when you land and can launch only from this spot (putting a deed as long as you park there would be nice).
