I'm doing the Imp pilot quest, given by Commander Oberhauer on Tatooine. I am a 2111, and cannot destroy the Kimeglia's Claw as required. It has 3 escort ships. When I approach, they immediately vaporize me! I have improved my ship- Tie/Int - as much as possible within my certification. I got the best shields/weapons/armor/engines/reactor that I can put on my chassis (not just auctions, I searched the vendors in the entire galaxy)-still have lots of mass to spare. Even got missiles. I still don't stand a chance!

So I decided I need to level up to at least 2211 so I can get better components on my ship, right? I grinded out the points, and go back to my trainer, Commander Oberhauer. He won't give me the option to train! Unfortunately this mission has a middleman-an imperial spy posing as a Nym refueler on Lok. I think this may be causing a bug.

Is it possible to have somebody else in the vicinity of my mission help me to destroy these ships? Or is that not allowed in SWG?

I appreciate any advice!

Peice of Advice, you should train in equipment first(well most people do at the lower tiers).

No bug, you have to do the misisons first to be able to train in any boxes

Its not only allowed, at the later tiers you NEED to group to do these missions. Grab a tier 2-3 friend and have him help ya. Trust me. This is an extremely easy mission compared to the rest of SS

Is there something special that has to be done to "group" together for a mission? Or is it as simple as having some other people in the vicinity start blasting at them? Or do I have to organize it with some sort of command, like hunting parties? All the JTL manual mentions is grouping for multi-player ships.

I've noticed some times when I try to help other people who are dog-fighting, that when I shoot the enemy ship it just makes a weird sound and inflicts no damage. Made me think that they were possibly doing a mission so it made THEIR target invalid to me.

Thanks for the advice on how to level. So do you go Equipment-Ship Tech-Tactics-Droids?

One other thing I noticed: the further away I am from a target the less damagemy shotsdo. When I'm flying against tier 3 ships I have to be right on their butt to inflict any damage. That's why I'm desparate to level up my equipment!

Once I mulled it over, I'm not sure I buy your theory that you should level-up your components tree 1st. When I was at level 1 starship, my chassis was maxed-out with level 1 components. I couldn't even fit the better level 1 components, let alone try to fit in the heavy mass of the level 2 components! That's why I felt it was best to upgrade the starship/chassis first.

Again, looking for info on how to group in space. Can it be done on the fly when in the space sector? Is there a command that has to be done? Or can anybody just start blasting my mission targets and help me out?

Grouping in space is identical to grouping on the ground.

/invite playername

I believe having them targeted and using /invite works too.

I don't know about anyone else, but I rarely pay attention to spatial while I'm in space. Try sending a /tell to ask for help. Or gather a group on the ground before you set out for your mission. You'll have to do that on later missions, as some are pretty hard to solo (at least for me).

I get what your syaing on the ship-ship tech idea but on the lower tiers going over your ship's mass doesnt happen that often. So what would you like:

1) The same exact ship save the fact it looks slightly bluer

--OR--

2) The same ship with a new lvl blaster?

1) It only looks the same, but the Tie/In has almost four times the mass of the Tie!

2) That new level blaster won't fit in the old ship, because of the mass restrictions

Anybody know how to get a flight computer?

You need to first buy a droid interface(same as any other component), then get a flightcomputer or astromech so you can put Commands into it

Yeah, I got a bazillion droid interfaces...those are fairly easy to receive for destroying a starship, or can get those in aBazaar Terminal.

I've never seen a flight computer (I'm Imp), not in the Bazaar Terminal, not at any vendors.

Any specifics where to get one? I'm in Bria Galaxy.
