Have you "initialized" it from the radial menu when its in your inventory? This will transfer it to your datapad, after which you can "open" it and put in "program chips".

did u buy the unprogrammed data chips and burn the info on them then and then put them inside the flight computer?

then when u go in space press control + a and go on the astro mech options

First, initialize the flight computer. It will move to your datapad and you can open it.

Second, with your unprogrammed droid chips - select program or something from the radial (can't remember exact text).

Third, after you burn the chip the radial menu now has a "Transfer to datapad" command. Do that.

Fourth, drag the chip in your datapad into the opened flight computer. You should be set. Now go into space, press CTL A, select Astromech and you should see the commands you programmed. Drag those onto your toolbar if you want.

Yes, you need one for each command.

Warning - if you change your droid/fc interface in the manage ship screen, make sure you unload and then reload your flight computer. I had changed my droid interface and my FC still said "loaded" but when I went into space I couldn't see any of my FC commands. After I landed I saw that it wasn't loaded. So it's as if the ship mgmt interface doesn't update the status of the FC when you change the FC interface.
