Best way I've found is to get an inspiration buff and do duty missions. That is the duty missions that you go out and hunt the enemy. Escortingor hijacking transports are both boring. At 2222, you can fairlyeasily kill tier 3's but the missions will mostly be giving you tier 2 enemies so if your equipment is decent, you'll breeze right through them. Each waypoint will have 2 or 3 (I'm suddenly having a brain fart on the number) waves of enemies, and the numbers of enemies per wave will increase. Like I said, with good equipment and a little skill, you'll be fairly safe and you'll soon be taking on waves of 7 at a time. Also, by doing duty missions you make money after completing every spawn in addition to the monet and items you loot, and if you're a declared faction, you'll getfaction if you're killing the other faction (but not if the missions are to kill pirates) so really these missions win all around.

Grinding is slow...at first. However, they designed the system to allow those that just wanted to grind through all 9 campaigns to be able to do so progressively more quickly. Every time you master a pilot profession, the multiplier for space xp gains is increased by one. If you have mastered once, drop it, and start a second campaign, you get 2x xp. On your third, you'll be 3x xp, your fourth, you'll get 4x xp, etc.

Side note: Tier 3 takes missions only, no XP required, so go find your Tier 3 trainer and get those missions.
