Hello
I've just started playing SWG again and have purchsed JtL. Do you recommend that I get a Joystick over using mouse / keyboard.
If so, is a Joystick or Game pad better to use?
Any suggestions as to which joystick to get?
I have £50 (approx $87) to spend on one
Cheers

Anything with a throttle on it and more than 6 buttons. Forget force feedback - it just gets annoying.
I'm using this Logitech and so far not had any probs with it. And I got spare buttons I dunno what to do with

Heh..I just bought the exact same one the other week.
Alot of people told me to buy a Saitek (sp?)
But I liked this one better. It has a heavy base, so it wont move around when you steer.

I tried to get the Saitek Cyborg joystick but I couldn't find it at any local shops. My previous joystick had started to act up big time so I went and got this as I couldn't be bothered to order online and wait for the postman
I can't say anything bad about this joystick and find it had to imagine that it wasn't my first choice
TBH I don't think the Saitek one has enough buttons for me and I so like lots of buttons

Yeah that joystick looks pretty good, (and a good price too)
The buttons are programmable, can these be used in JtL ? if so what sort of things do you use your buttons for.

nothing beats a good hotas setup. saitek is the leader in this area. for the money, sai will give you the best controler.
this is the new saitek. uber kick a@@. im still using an x45 (4-5 years old) and it has held up perfectly.
again, nothing beats a good 2 hand system. i just wish swg supported multiple controlrs and i could use my pedals too

I've seen the Cyborg evo Forcewhich is top of my price range,
ho, hum, which one to get.
So is it accepted that the joystick is better than the GamePad?

Main trigger is just fire current weapon group, the thumb button I use for select next target under rectile. Then I got cycle weapons, cycle missiles. Fire counter measures, fire missiles, boosters, nearest enemy, cycle ship component (engines/reactor/etc), match speed and toggle tractor beam.
I paid ~£30 for mine but if you buy online they're about £20 (but watch those delivery costs pump up the price).
