No doubt, takes forever to get anywhere but then again your suppose to be using it for luxury and entertainment so you shouldn't be in a hurry![]()
The original design of the Sorosub was custimizable (never released to players that way but when the art guys were designing it they had it that way.)
It even has an access tunnel for the turrets that you may have noticed. They decided that putting weapons on this wouldn't be proper as it takes no pilot skills to be certified for it. So they simplified. They decided that it would be invulnerable to PvP/PvE and non-upgradable.
Personally, I think they should have allowed us to upgrade all components but leave it unarmed. Sure, Lando's Sorosub had weapons on it but really it is a luxury liner.
Another reason why it is not upgradable right now is like I pointed out, no pilot cert required to fly it. If you have no pilot skills you are not certified to use components. If you are not certified to use even Cert 1 components then your sorosub would be worthless until you got at least Novice Pilot. I believe thats why this situation exists. You really can't have it both ways and since it is a veterans reward they want everyone and anyone to be able to use this ship regardless of wether or not they have pilot skills or not.
So thats the issue. If they make it upgradable, you must at least have Novice Pilot skills to fly it. If they leave it as is anyone with JTL can fly it regardless of skills, but it remains nonupgradable.
I'm sure the Dev's could make a change allowing this but I have a feeling that would be lower on their priority list than making it so smugglers can smuggle.
Ironic. You can't "speak" grammar.
I'm not too keen on having it be a combat ship. It's far too sluggish and has a gigantic hitbox to be of any real use, and you'd have to take away the invincibility aspect, which I'm quite fond of.
I'd love to be able to upgrade the Engine and Booster though. That thing goes far to slowly. I'd like to chuck in a 100 + Speed Engine and chuck in a nice booster and run EO4...

They should keep the gift as a NON upgradeable, and allow for PLAYER CRAFTERS to Build these ships as upgradeable. That would make it easier on us and the DEVs.
