well since the timeline is pretty much messed up i think this might work.

how about instanced space areas,

you talk to the station and load into the new area

in the yavin area, have the option at the factional station to participate in the battle of yavin.

in endor system, have the option at the factional station to participate in the battle of endor,

can even have the space fight around hoth,

yavin and endor would be easy, hoth would require a new space system.

think it would be cool to fight around the deathstar, try and go down the trench, killing turrets.

would be great for factional pvp.

i think it shouldn't be hard to do

what do you think

Nice idea...

I've posted something along same lines a few times. Merging ground and space to recreate the battle of endor. Ground disable shields, space to slow down the death stars construction progress. Destroying it wouldn't be plausable due to the time line (laughable really, given the fact that the 2 cash-ins.. errm... expansions have pushed timeline backwards anyway - "Clone Relics" dosn't make it any less of a cash in BTW!)

Oh thats my "shortened version" there's a long post about it somewhere, can't be arsed looking for it tho

When I first read this, I was thought: yes, the timeline is seen as messed up by many, but this would be a blatant disregard of the timeline. Then I got to thinking ... maybe the idea is that you could land on a space station and participate in "simulations" of the great battles in history. So you're really just sitting in your ship's cockpit in some docking bay, but running a flight simulator to participate in the battle. This I can swallow. Sure would be fun to blow up a Death Star

the simulation would be great, possibly involving things from the expanded universe.

also i really didn't mean for the deathstar to blow up, lol just flying around it killin stuff is what i would like to do

but blowing it up would rock.

I like the simulation idea, I don't want to mess up the timeline anymore.

This is actually a good idea - and possible. I remember the early JTL footage before SWG's release. It featured several star destroyers and several fighters, and I think even a 'Vette. The hardest thing I can think of is, when you land on a station to participate in a simulation, imagine the server load of the instances. It's gonna be murder, so very limited amount of instances will exist. Perhaps there could be a queue, and during that queue, find whatever the station has for entertainment in the meantime. I can undoubtedly see this as being very possible..

Edit - While this is a good idea, I'm thinking Player Rebel Factions versus NPC Imp factions for one scenario, as well as having a pre-selected ship, so no fancy blasters or thrusteres. One scenario for the Rebels, one scenario for the Imps.

Perhaps an insane amount of cost of prestige points, but pilots would be allowed to "group up" with others, and put their prestige together, to suggest more of being a group activity, instead of solo.

I put in a few ideas like thisa while ago, even one as naive as going to the MAW, getting sucked intoa Black hole, going back in time to the Battle of Yavin, blowing up the deathstar yourself, the massive explosion from it sends you hurtling back into your time

it would be a great way to have capitol ships involved

imagine tryng to dogfight between a ISD and a mon cal cruiser while they are duking it out.

uhhh... wait. ok, ill give ya this... it would be extremely cool to see this ingame. but, you know that slight little bug on the ISD where every gun on it fires at once regardless of where you are, so that it creates shield hit particles on the ISD and lags the entire system? yeah... imagine that, but multiplied by 100 because of the size of the death star.

but if they could bother to fix that, it would be an excellent idea

i could be wrong but i don't think the firstdeathstar had a shield, remember the second one had the shield generated from endor, and they took it down to start the attack

no shield - no shield effects
