Seems to happen both from lag and from hopping over server boundaries in space. Every now and then if I'm flying loops I'll find a spot where I can repeat the speed reset over and over. Really annoying.

There was another part to the ship dropping to 0 and back again, that was officially labeled the “Bumble Bee” effect.
(it was impossible to hit enemy ships because they were bouncing around like bumble bees).

There was a huge post on it a while back. There were many theories and solutions written on it, but it was mostly cased by server congestion/population at various times of the day.

I used to get it at night when the servers were very crowded, but it was non-existent early in the morning when the server was sparsely populated.

I have not been getting it at all lately.

I will display the "Test Center" icon until SWG is bug free.

Actually the Bumblebee effect can also come from latency on your own system, and was traced back to bad driver versions. Now might be a good time to make sure all of your drivers are up to date and you don't have any old versions causing issues.
