I don't think there is a cap on the credit chips themselves, I believe they just keep adding to the chip for each time you loot some creds.

no I dont think there is one but if there is it must be big, I had one up to 12k once because I dove into a swarm of tier1's and they were respawning faster then I could destroy them and excape lol.
