I usea playstation 2 controller with a USB adaptorfor all my JTL playing and it works great. The game auto-configured nearlyall the buttonsso I could fly with theleft small joystick and spin left or right with theleft one as well as fire, use boosters, target ships, ect. The up/down/left/right directional pad was configured topan the view in each direction.
Ifthe game correctly detected all the functions(buttons, control pad, ect.) you should be able to remapany function to any partof the gamepad. If all the functionsof the gamepad are not detected than you may have a driver issue orsome weird compatibility issue with SWG.

You don't need a joyStick..... The keys are very convinient unless you have like 1 arm.

Thanks for the replies.
My question now is how did you get to use the pad to pan the view?! For some reason I cant set the game to have the pan view working when using the mouse to control the ship.
What I’m I doing wrong?

I use a logitech duel controller for my JTL. It has a pad that can do a quick pan, which is the default setting. I personally don't use the pan function, but I would assume that all you need to do is go to the control options and set your second joystick axis for pan. You might have to set both axis' for this. I've never tried it. I use the second joystick for rolling. I'm not even sure what my configuration for the pan is. lol.
Hope this helps.
