I got my first non-TIE Fighter ship today! Finally, the mission from hell is over (I'm with Storm Squadron. 1st Tier 3 mission is a pain that words cannot covey)! I decided to go with a TIE bomber for the extra HP and mass, which hopefully means I can load it up with fun goodies that my smaller TIEs couldn't hold.
So the first thing I noticed once I got it built was that it had two gun slots. How does this work? I was told that the TIE Aggressor was our 2-person ship, so how does the second gun fire? Do they both shoot at once?
Also, how does the rest of Tier 3 work? Will I be trained after each mission, or is there a pause? I want to pick up a missile launcher (what's a TIE Bomber without bombs?), but I'll be training equipment certifications next time I get trained, so I don't want to drop the credits on a missile system I'll only use for one mission if I don't have to.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

>> so how does the second gun fire?
Both guns fire out of the same ports. By default its cycle and fire meaning it will fire one weapon, then the other. PRess G, and put them all in one weapon grouping, and make sure there are no other projectile weapon groups.
>>Will I be trained after each mission,
In teir 3, yes. COmplete the mission, you get trained. You'll also need help with these missions most likely Storm is the hardest squadron to do. If you can't find any help, look me up to see if im online at the time ( Rapax ), or look for Nord squadron members, most are usually able to help out with missions.
>>I want to pick up a missile launcher
I woudlnt bother, most missles are either ineffective or not cost efficient in most PvE scenarios.

Yea you'll want to do that.

I don't know if you will like the bomber, it was ok i guess but I found it slow and ackward to fly on these missions. I thought the higher mass and weapons would compensate but they didn't in my experience. But then again struggling with the mass restrictions on the Interceptor was/is a nightmare. LOL I finally got a greatInterceptor togeather and overloaded my reactor...

I found the Bomber to be my #1 choice when doing the last 2 tier 3 trees and mostly all of us tier 4
I dont know what's so special about it to me but it just is, I managed to train myself to get used to the bomber despite everyone's complaints of how slow or heavy it is to use.
But If you can manage to fly well with a bomber I guarantee you can be able to get used to any ship within minutes after that.

OK, I took it out for my first flight. I got my butt kicked. My engine didn't let me turn fast enough to catch the stuff I was fighting, and they just fired at me pretty much freely. This won't be such a big deal usually, as I fly with a group, but could someone recomend some engine specs that would allow me to at least take a few shots at things?

The TIE Bomber is a garbage scow of a ship. It is slow and lumbering to the point of being painful to fly sometimes. Having said that, once you learn how to fly and equipit, it is devestatingly effective.
The thing to remember when flying the bomber is you have got to learn where the sweet spot is betweed performance and speed or you are either going to turn slower than heck, or you are going to be a sitting duck against NPC fighters. Usually about 3/4 to 3/5 full throttle is a good place to start. Any extra speed is wasted with the lumbering beast except for straifing runs and emergency maneuvers. When you fire on a fast target, spamming cannon fire is a waste of energy most of the time. Line up your shot and squeeze off one or two blast. If you do it right you can often kill something like and A wing in 2 or 3 such volleys.
Get a fast engine, at least 60+ P/R/Y and 70+ speed. Get good boosters. Get shields with a high recharge rate and around 1400 to 1800+ coverage. Make sure you have good front armor since you will be comming head on at a lot of things that can eat through even the best shields. I would recommend one Ion cannon and one good blaster to rip through shields and still do nice armor damage paired together. You will, of course, need a capacity to back up the firepower. If you use missles at all, get two concussion launchers and pair them together to help take shields down on capitol ships asap.
Anyways, that's my experience with the thing.

Well I also hope you're using droid commands, they make a world of difference.

i loved this ship i used this ship untill i was master. trick is to get RE components and the trick to make you be able to turn is to just slow down abit. experiment to find the sweet spot

The thing I found useful when I flew the bomber was an engine with superior turnrates since it really does turn like a barge. As said before, slowing down to follow your enemies is a must becuase of the bad turnradius.
I tend to find rockets very useful for the initial strike however, as a couple of well placed rockets will make your job at taking out enemies so much easier - for instance, a level III proton torpedo will shave off about 50% of the shields on tier 4 NPC A-wing, so I reckon if you use rockets as they are designed (protons is usually 0.5 vs shields and 0.5 vs armour) you'd be a formidable opponent. Bonkers is that launchers don't come with alot of ammo space, so your main weapon should still be a couple of twin-linked blasters with a nice damage output.
