I've gotten a few quests where I have to 'disable' ships. How do I do that? Whenever I try, I just blow them up.
Thanks
Oh yeah... and this may be a stupid question, but when I'm trying to shoot something, do I try to get my teal crosshair (the one that moves when I move the mouse) or my green crosshair (the one that's always centered on the screen) on the target?
Thanks

You have to target the ship's engines or reactor to disable the ship. The [ and ] keys (next to the P on a standard american keyboard) let you pick component systems of your target. Select engine on the target and then fire away until you get the target disabled message; just quit shooting in time or you will destroy the target like you are doing now.

As to your second question, you generally have to lead the target with your weapons. So you usually are shooting in front of the target so your "bullets" (what is the better word in swg?) and the targetcollide at the same point in space.

I beleive the correct word would be "laser blasts". But yea i figured this out within a few minutes of playing (with guidance of a friend of course). you can also just take out the reactor and wait for it to run out of energy but the engines are easier i guess...

To target these areas use the [ and ] keys. They will cycle through the extra guns, shields, reactor, engine and other areas on ships. Most ships only have the engine/reactor spots.
