I know you need 300 prestige points, and then goto a station of your faction and ask if you can go. The imperial station for kessel is in the endor system.

Are you sure about that? Thought that was just for Deep Space. Because you have to go to Kessel to Master your pilot profession before you even begin to gain prestige points.
Anyway, go to Dantooine space, ctrl-v to show your map and waypoints, look in the list to the right for the proper space station (in beta, there was one called "Deep Space Station" that also gave the option for Kessel), then auto-pilot, or activate and navigate to it.

You do get the points when you kill anything, or atleast you did when I tried in beta. I missed the last few days of beta so that might have changed.

I never got any points other then fighting xp in space while i was in beta.
