Thread: noob question from a veteran player

I feel really silly asking this, since I've been playing sine shortly after launch, but I haven't really spent much time in space. That said, here's my problem.

I'm working on the freelance pilot training in Eisley, from Drevis in the cantina. One of the firstmissions is a simple "protect the freighter" mission. So, the freighter arrives, and so does Black Sun. No Problem. I can vape Black Sun all day long. The problem is, as soon as the freighter spawns, every Pirate Spy in the system seems to come after me. These ships are not related to my mission, but if I get within about 1500m of them, they gang up on me and blow me to peices. These are only Tier 1 enemies, and ordinarily would not be a problem, but I can't handle half a dozen of them while destroying/disabling the black sun ships and protecting the freighter.

Is there any way to get them to stop attacking me? Does faction in the ground game effect the space game? I have -5000 pirate faction, is this why they keep blasting me? If so, who do I kill to get positive pirate faction?

I've upgraded to the best ship and level one equipment I can find, but I can't seem to train until I finish this mission. I've tried it about 12 times, and I'm running out of money to repair my ship. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

By the way, I tired searching the forums, in case this had already been answered, but apparently the search engine is down. Sorry if this has come up before.

Sounds like there is a nearby spawn of the pirates. Your ground faction doesnt have an effect, but flying too close does. Look at the area in three dimensions as you fly in next time, and try to come in a different direction to avoid the spawn. Ease past them, trying to stay at least 1km from them, and when doing the first part of your mission, dont let your fight drift towards them. eventually the path of the escort should take you away from them.

I mustcompleted thismission 3 times with different toons, but I dont recall running into the same problem you have, so I think its a simple matter of not flying too close.

I have ran into similar instances doing the Duty missions for Escort Duty on the alliance side. If I get too close to some of the tier II spawns while doing hte escprt mission I tend to aggro some nasty little grousp of fighters. It would not be that bad if it were not for the "Drunken Bumblebee" effects seen and reported so much lately. I cannot seem to take them out fast enough.

I have run into this with the Smugglers Alliance as well.

Not much you can do as far as having them not come after you if they are not mission related.

You can hope it doesn't happen again, but there are bad guys all over the place and in our escort's space lanes.

If you can, grab a friend or two to keep them off your back. Or just one master pilot with a descent ship.

My Lady ran into the same problem ...... Group with someone alse and 2 of you go out there

and blast them....as long as your grouped... as far as I can see it doesnt matter who blows what up.

I went out and kept everything off her space behind and she completed the mission !

When things get really tough in sector hyper-space jumps are your friend. You won't fail the mission for jumping in sector, but you may not be able to get back to your escort in time. But it's probably cheaper to jump, and take that chance than eject.

Ladies and gentlemen of the supposed jury, Chef's attorney would certainly want you to believe that his client wrote "Stinky Britches" ten years ago. And they make a good case. Hell, I almost felt pity myself!

But ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider: Ladies and gentlemen this [pointing to a picture of Chewbacca] is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that. THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! (Background: Damnit! What? He's using the Chewbacca defense!) Why would a Wookiee—an eight foot tall Wookiee—want to live on Endor with a bunch of two foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense!

But more important, you have to ask yourself, what does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense!

Look at me, I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca. Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense. None of this makes sense!

And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberating and conjugating the Emancipation Proclamation... does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense.

If Chewbacca lived on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.
