Thread: Just had a great idea for a new ship

i myself would think that would be pretty sweat...my guild have been talking about something like that..sept when u take over other big ships or carriers i belive u said they were u can board thema nd kill ppl inside and get fp and xp from them even though ur pvp or ur pvp status can go up too..but overall i would like to see something like that in the game

With the battle raging on in the Galatic Civil War, why not have a Carrier player driven ship??? Just imagine the fire fights with that thing!!!! I haven't seen any posts about this so I just figured I would through my 2cents in.


How it would work:


1. For this to realy work, create more faction ranks and maybe even some diverse ranks. For example have JtL ranks (ie Fleet Commander, Admiral, and ranks like that), and then have some for pilots (Ace, and things like that), and you could have some for those who just like the grunt work (grunt, foot solider, and just group based ranks). The player after declaring which faction he wants to enter will be given the option to "enlist" into the ground or air war, or something to that effect.


2. It would have to expand out of the maxium group limit to include a lot more people, and since SOE is trying to promote more "team" play they should increase the group limit. Anyway, have it work like the vet reward yaht (can't spell) and invite up 2 a set number of people. Once there the "Fleet Commander" will assume command and give out the orders to the fleet (also in this fanticy will be destroyer type ships, which will be commanded the same way but with smaller groups). The Carrier will work kinda like a guild city with the controlling player adding new feature like: expanded hanger decks (to carry more fighters), repair decks, cantina (got to have that ) and so on and so forth.


3. The Carrier would have all the limitation the regular fighters have as far as mass/energy/wieght, stuff like that, and would take damage like the multipassenger ships take now. And a crew would have to have "damage control" teams onboard to repair the ship, like the multipassenger ships have.


4. Once combat has begun the Fleet Commander can issue orders/target/waypoints to his fighters/destroyers the same way a Squad Leader issues messages. The commander would also get the feature of a tactical map, which would be sweet for everyone to see, so that he can direct according (my idea of the map would be like in Ep II when Count Duku was talking with the Geo's.)


Anyways, I have wasted enough of your time reading this but I was off in fantacy land at work and just wanted to share

ya, but u rly think of them doing this...it may be rly cool and all and i belive 110% with it.but how devs, soe, etc. r makeing this game i highly dought iwill ever happen. although i did read somewhere about the devs talking about this, but not rly wat u guys r talking aobut...docking wiht other player ships and like wat road-kill said aobut the vette or ds. mostly docking with spacestatoins. but like i said before i would love to see this in the game and again (repeating self) my guild was talking something like this but being able to bring ships into the atmoshpere of planets


EXAMPLE: (imp version) takeing out a rebel base, player imp bombers can fly over reb base on ground clear everything up, imp players on ground comestorming in to base take it out, but rebels can fly over and have a dog fight wiht the imps. and they can somehow shoot the imp players or something like that.
