Ok, I am not sure what is causing this because I have checked everything. Ichecked and made sure that there is no lag, and have brought up the small display that tells you the FPS and everything. It says I have a ping of 15-30 and an FPS of about 25-30, yet still, when I'm flying in space and engage in combat with npcs, they start to jump around and fly about the place, most of the time colliding with my ship! I know this is called Jump toLightspeed, but this is ridiculous. This means I can't target them to fire at them and makes it extremely hard to even get the first skill box beyond basic pilot. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any and all help is greatly appreciated in advance.

I have exactly the same problem! Keep failing the first Imp mission because the enemy fighters are warping, jumping around back and forth and even sideways like crazy wasps.
Tried Storm Squadron but that was totally crazy. Resigned and tried the Inquisition a few times. Still failed.
I had no majorproblems like thiswhen playing in the Beta.
Now it's totally unplayable...

I completely agree, there is hardly any way possible for anyone with this problem to ever move on in piloting skills. I was also in the beta, and I never had any problems like this then.

I had the same problem, in the end I got rid of SP2 for my windows xp and it works fine .. but I read about people using different operating systems experiencing the same issue.

lol... SP2 for xp... that caused my computer to crash and wouldn't start back up afterwords. Ended up having to reformat the whole thing.

Hmmmm, what was strange is that I just started a new character and I went and trained in novice privateer pilot and went on to do the missions. I was able to blast my way through the entire first four or five missions, then I log out to take a break and log back in and I'm once again, surounded by JUMP to lightspeed wannabes lol.

It was the same thing for me dude .. try to get rid of SP2 or any other microsoft security stuff. Seems like thats the only way to play the game properly.

Ok, a dumb question, but how so I figure out if I am using SP2 or not? If I am, how do I deavtivate it?

Just go through control panel, add/remove programs. SP2 should appear in that list and then you can uninstall it. If later you determine that it made no difference and want it back, just goto Microsoft's website and have it do an update check on your comutper then red/l'd it. It's a long process though. I'm afraid I don't know of a quicker one.

Before you go and dump SP2 consider checking a few other things. Graphics card and drivers for one. Also, what firewall are you using. You may be using BOTH the Windows firewall AND a software firewall. This can be a bad thing performance wise. Also try rebooting your computer then going directly into the game. If you simply exit the game then go back in you may be finding that the memory from your first session hasn't dumped properly (this I understand isan SOE problem with the game). Don't be so quick to blame MS when there are other possible causes.
