I am new to not only SWG, but mmorpg as well. I mean, I have played shooters all my life, but this whole rpg thing is overwhelming.
Anyway, to my point.
I signed up with the Royal Naboo, but (please don't make too much fun of me), I don't know what to do next. I know my first mission is to patrol for pirates, but I don't know what I need to do to use my ship.
Does any of that make sense?

Once you've received your first ship in your datapad (the recruiter should giv eyou one if you ask them) you must goto the starport and use the newer starship terminals. From there, just select your ship and click "Launch". 
(Oh, by the way - I can't quite remember with your first ship.. but if your ship is not on the terminal, then go into your inventory (CTRL+I), find the deed, right-click it and generate the ship first.)

Hmm, let's see:
Step 1: Resign from RSF and go to Corsec or Hutt. At least they don't cooperate with the empire.
Uh, oki, not serious, so here's the real:
Step 1: Go to the starport to the starship terminal.
Step 2: Use the terminal, select your ship (if you don't have one, complain to the guy who gave you the missions that you don't have a ship, should fix the problem...) and select 'launch'.
Step 3: Enjoy being in space and wish you good luck on your mission.
