Thread: Auto-Turrets on the backburner?

I was wondering, the turrets that fire from the aggressors, and other ships that have turrets, were they meant to be able to hit on a dime?

I've noticed no one really mentions about this anymore, but man it peeves me off when I actually try to dodge thsoe things and I still get hit no matter what.

Will this issue ever get fixed, or was it always meant as is? Thsi is one of those gamebreaking things where I don't even try to fight an aggressor because my ship ends up getting trashed 90% of the time, or blown up to bits.

Same with yt1300, and so on.

Are there any actual words regarding about this?

Have you ever tried to set you guns to shoot out the turrets first? If you manage to punch through the shields, you can pretty much take care of the turret -- Aggressors are not meant to be fought solo. If you're going to go up against it, bring a buddy -- two targets will confuse the gunnery AI and allow you to shoot out its turret withou much trouble.

When I took my friends for a crazed joyride through kessel, we got attacked by three TIE/Aggressors, but I wasn't stupid enough to enter Kessel alone in my nova courier -- we had turrets, spacebombs, and two fellow pilots to help -- the Aggressors were, suffice to say, spacedust in three minutes.

Yes I do, and with the invuln bug (which is another annoying issue), makes it even harder for me to destroy them.

Yes I know there's "sweet spots" that I have to aim for, but these thintgs really need to be fixed.

The only way to get those lousy Aggressors to miss is to dodge so much as to spoil your own aim, defeating the purpose of trying to kill them. I can take them solo by using the rebel extreme shield adjust and front e-shields but even then I almost always end up with armor damage. I don't have those overload programs and use 3300 max and 3600 max damage weapons.

That's something I hadn't thought of before. I've never seen the "tails" use their forward guns though. They always just spin around me firing that %R&% turret constantly.

Aggressors are easy. I can't say how well this works for an A-wing, but I do it often in my X-wing.

After you are "aggroed" by the tail (slang from our group of pilots for TIE Aggressors), run away. You'll need to get a klick or so away from it, but you don't want to lose the aggro.

Slow way down, nearly to 0,as you turn your fighter to face the tail. Open fire at about 600 meters, as it should be coming straight at you. Keep shooting and adjust aim as necessary. When the tail is about on top of you, hit your boosters and zip away until you're about a klick away again. Rinse and repeat.

In my X-wing, it usually takes (at max) two passes to knock out the Aggressor. I take a little damage this way, but it's trivial and can easily be fixed through a quick shunt of energy from the capacitor to the shields.

Fighting aggressors in an A-wing is pretty simple.

1. don't get to close, stay out 300+ meters and the targetting AI has a harder time hitting you since you will both be turning slightly.

2. get a droid interface with about 25ish or less speed.

3. have a nice lvl 2 capacitor (RE lvl 2 capacitors are easy)

I take them down with 1100 hp shields and they never get to my armor.

I do feel really sorry for smuggler alliance pilots on their tier 4 destroy duty missions. The command wings have are a tie aggressor

Halyn, hit it on the head... don't tail an Aggressor. Booster out of range... let it turn and come head on... target weapon component (you can still hit it from the front)... fire as it approaches... when it's on you booster out of range of the rear guns... turn and repeat. Aggressors are nothing without their turret... I use my Y-Wing LP with 2500 F/B Shields, Weapon Overload 3, Engine Overload 3 and Capacitor Overload 3... alone an Aggressor will go down very quickly. After their turret is down they are no more harmfully then a Tier 2 Tie Fighter.

Actaully, I 'd like to see player usabale auto-turrets on the aggressors and master ships etc. What I mean by that is throw in auto-turret control programs on the astromech tree. Each tier would give the turret more accuracy. That way there could be an alternative to forcing your friends to gun for you. There is a big potential for people exploiting this, but there is probably some way to keep that form happening.
