Thread: TIE Advanced or TIE Aggressor?

I'm about to level up to tier 4 and am looking for advice on which ship provides better overall combat performance and why. (sort of a pro/con on each) I like the mass of the Aggressor compared with the Advanced, but don't know how they both fly.

While I have both a bomber and an interceptor now, I find I use my interceptor more, because it's much more agile and I really prefer dogfighting over sitting back and tanking with the less maneuverable bomber.

Recommendations from my fellow Imperial pilots?

Tie Advanced. Much faster and much more agile than the Agressor.

tie aggressor is much better, just get a good reactor for it and run engine and weapon overload three and set the throttle for 60% -50% while in combat when its just fighters and its great! its much stronger then the advance. personally, it comes down to choice, do you want a fast ship with little mass? or a slightly slower ship with high mass which can take on tier fives much easier? well, its your choice. make it wisely, because unless you want to spend alot, you will stick with it.

Does the Aggressor tend to "lag" a bit coming out of turns like the bomber does? I notice that when I'm in my bomber if I make a tight turn, even throttled down, it still drifts a bit coming out of the turn and can cause me to overshoot my mark until I can stabilize it. That's not that bad for xwings or Bwings, but makes hitting a lvl 4+ awing almost impossible if it's juking hard.

The TIE/Advanced is an Interceptor with more mass and a second gun slot. The YPR and acceleration multipliers are identical between both ships. The aggressor has more mass, but only 1 pilot controlled weapon (the other gun slot is the turret). The YPR and acceleration values are less than the advanced/interceptor.

I have both, and the aggressor sits in the hangar unless I want to fly with a friend.

i disagree with the aggressor being stronger, simply because it only has one weapon mount. even if you are master (in which case you would take oppressor over aggressor) and can mount a lvl10 re'd gun with around 4800 dmg, you still arent coming close to my advanceds lvl6-7 re'd gun combo that does a combined dmg of 3600-6000 and has a combined mass of 25k. i can load those 2 guns, a lvl8 re'd reward shiled, a mkI crafted reactor, a lv2 cap, mkII booster, and the tier3 reward engine in my advanced.

with that loadout i will always dish out more damage than any aggressor out there, and still have the same shielding. i lose armor, but the advanced small profile and manuverability means i take alot less hits which more than makes up for it. i also have a couple different varients with a mkIV crafted shield and armor/missles and another with a mkIII shield and a lvl8 gun instead of the lvl7 to do even more damage.

my advanced loadout is highly refined though so if you are still new to jtl it will take alot of time before you are able to gte the right loot for this. for a more basic loadout use:

mkII crafted reactor 3k mass 12k output
lvl6 reward engine 13k mass (get re'd once you find other lvl6s with low mass and reactor drain and high yaw and pitch)
mkIV crafted shield 1800 f/b 11 recharge 17k mass
lvl2 loot capacitor <2k mass around 35 recharge
mkII booster 2.5k mass 30 speed
mkIV (lvl7) crafted quickshot blaster
mkIII (llv5) crafted quickshot blaster
lvl1 droid interface, prenerf if possible

with that loadout you will be doing nice and the only two loot items are the cap and interface which are lvl2 and 1, so you should have no problem finding them. the rest is all crafted or quest reward. obivously if you have better stuff use it, thats just a baseline build for people that literaly have nothing.
