SOE should let anyone with SWG fly as a passenger in JTL ships. Why?

Two reasons:

1) It will make more people see what JTL is like and inspire them to buy it

2) It will allow Ace pilots to theoretically make some cash/have fun being a taxi system for people with their MP ships.

Note: non-JTL customers would not be allowed to interact with the ship in any way. No piloting, no gun turrets, etc etc.

For someone to ride as a passenger they'd need all of the JTL files, so either they'd have to download all the JTL information or they'd have to go out and buy it which makes point 1 obsolete and given interplanetary travel is now a max of 60 seconds wait and still very very cheap and almost instant I doubt anyone would bother having running a taxi service.

The other player actually doesn't need JtL if you are doing point-to-point travel. I've had a clanmate who doesn't have JtL accept my offering of grouping in a MP ship and I've been able to transport him free of charge to any starport. The passenger will never be able to launch in to orbit but they will be able to "travel" with you.

Just wondering here...

Isn't that a bug?..... I've heard from several people that it was so I've never used it with non JTL players.

I've used the travel option grouped with others who have JTL but never with someone without JTL.

I thought I read it had been fixed so that only those with JTL can use the travel option grouped but if not I wonder if a player with JTL is exploiting by bringing non jtl players with them using point to point travel?

If it's a MP ship then how is it an exploit? The player without JtL is not using any of the game mechanics that he hasn't paid for, ie. space combat, ownership of vessels. Grouped travelling isa feature offered by JtL... but point-to-point travel is not restricted to JtL. The player on the ground reaps no benefits other then free transport. How is free transport in a MP ship that is paid for by one player to locations defined by the SWG ground-based game considered an exploit? Those players that have JtL that are also using group travel don't pay a cent for the journey or pay for repairs of the MP ship, they basically have the same abilities at the time of grouping as the non-JtL player... and they will have the same abilities when they arrive. There is no exploit.

Back before they lowered the starport wait to 1 minute I attempted to run a taxi service by transporting non-JTL owners around in my yacht. I charged 5k for a ride and advertized I could take them to any planet instantly. In the whole month I ran the service I had 1 customer, and I ended up refunding his money because I goofed up the trip. So it was never profitable to begin with,

but with the new wait reduction the business is absolutely impractical.

I suppose you could consider it unrealistic, if not an exploit to transport non-jtls around in your single seat fighter. Maybe it should only be possible in a 2 seater or MP ship.

If we want to make money from ferrying people around, then maybe we need missions where a 'wanted' NPC is delivered safely to a destination - again only possible if you have an MP or 2 seater, and requires you to launch and go to a WP to await landing instructions.

JtL files may be need... these come down as part ofthe regularpatch download. But a JtL registered account is not required to be able to be included in the "Group Travel" option for a MP ship.
