What I would like to see in space (and this would help their JTL sales as well).
Once you have disabled a ship (freighter, transport, other ships?) and you dock, a version of the ground game starts up where you (and friends if multiplayer ship) can board the ship and have to fight your way through it (devs would need to create a variety of ship plans though or it would get boring).
The higher the tier ship, the higher level crew you have to fight and better rewards (though it has to be sensible, a small tier 1 freighter would probably only have a crew of 5-10 low level NPC's and a salvage amount of 10k).
This also opens up the possibility of selling the captured ship for salvage, selling the cargo and (eventually) when the engine is capable of flying/using the ship. Some ships might also be protected by fighters that spawn, meaning the attackers must bring their own fighter cover.
Also allows for future changes to smugglers, allowing them to be boarded by NPC's to check for contraband etc.
For cargo, some cargo's could be non-specific, ie, parts or alcohol etc that is just sold for a set amount and can only be sold to NPC's. Other cargo on higher level ships could be very specific, ir 10k or OQ 900+ resource, etc.

I have to admit that'd be sweet...but probably too much to ask for...

it would be a good advertisement, like 'make your fortune in space, plundering and capturing enemy ships' or something like that, well leave it up to marketing

Oh man the Pilot Correspondent played SWmud?! Man ship raiding was the best feature of SWmud. The excitement of not knowing whether we'd successfully slice the capital ship or if it would catch us and blow us to bits. Then the whole process of clearing the place out and deeding it as our own. Hoo boy that was so much fun. Me and my other SWmud buddies who went to SWG have been hoping JTL will have this put in.

Sounds like someone played SWmud too!
Not me (sounds like I should of though).
I actually thought when JTL wasbeing coded that there is no way they wouldn't have included boardings and spacestations in the initial release, was very suprised that they weren't in it (specially since the first scene in the movie made first, was a boarding).
I know a lot of Beta players that did not buy JTL, simply because they got quickly tired of the limited things that there were to do. Most people that I know who did buy JTL, played it for a few weeks and then went back to the ground game, so,
The suggestion I made would (I think) rectify this, I have also seen a number of good suggestions in this forum (specially ones where you can get to content only through JTL, like space stations or specific planets etc).
Just my 2 cents
