Will I still get my Master Pilot Helm if I master piloting via grinding xp, as opposed to completing the Vette Mission?

Completing the Vette mission is the only way to get your Master box I'm afraid...
You can grind xp 'til the cows come home, but until you blow the Vette you're stuck at 4-4-4-4.

Yes, like MehLikePie said, you can only get your ace title by completing the two ace missions. They're easier then grinding out 7.5 million EXP anyway...

Unless they changed it that isn't the only way. I recall being asked by the last quest NPC if you want to do one last mission or grind off the exp.

the vette is ultra easy for imperial pilots. every halfway skilled pilot can solo it with ease.
aproach to 2k - Bstrike2 - wait a min and start finishing off the escort fighters
then wait till the vettes guns are disabled (5 min roughly) and take out the gunboats.
after that the vette is defenseless.

BS from 2km
take out the scattered escort fighters
get underneath vette
target weapon 5 and go in gunz-a-blazin
once wep 5 is out stay close to the belly of the vette
sneak round the hull taking out the weapons
get in front of vette by about 1km, turn, halt, shoot out both shields
stay under vette and sneak round to engines.. blast em... wait for GBs to bugger off
take out reactor
take out bridge
goto vette exit point and finnish off GBs

get underneath vette
target weapon 5 and go in gunz-a-blazin
once wep 5 is out stay close to the belly of the vette
sneak round the hull taking out the weapons

Thankfully when you're done on Tier 4 there is no more exp grinding needed - two fun missions await
