So I went back to flying tonight to help out a few people with some tier four missions, and here I am, a master rebel pilot and have my A-Wing that's got mostly reverse engineered components on it from when I equipped it back when I was helping the last other people take out the Corvette in space. It was equipped in like November, and was doing competitive damage at the time, and I was holding my own looting against the X-wings and the B-wings. I'm a fairly experienced space pilot, having played all the Wing Commander's and all the prior Star Wars flyers.
Now it's a whole different story.
Tier 4 neutral pilots who's first space game is JTL are out damaging me in 2 hits against tier 4 ships when I've been blasting at them for like a minute. Then when I blow it up, they get the loot. It seems that the new neutral pilot overcharge chips have made flying in an a-wing a futile f***ing effort. Pisses me off.

Which neutral ships were they flying ? Sounds like they were flying heavier mass ships that pack more and bigger guns then you.
Oh and none of the freelance pilot programs increase damage output of the weapons, that's an imperial program and while they may have been running it so could you so I don't think it is a fair on the a-wing to use that as a reason to make it out as a bad ship.
This mightn't mean much to youbut from my friends that space pvp regularly the a-wing is the rebel ship they hate to fight the most or is their ship of choice for pvp.

Flight programs have changed since you flew, most likely. You need to get reactor overload 3, engine overload 3, capacitor overcharge 3, wepaon overload 3 and captoshieldshunt 4.
I still run into people who say "I don't use those". It takes a bit to set up, but I cannot understand how someone thinks they will be as good as the best pilots without taking advantage of these programs.

Not to mention, the A-wing is a superb Dogfighter and PvP ship, but not much of a gunboatkiller or heavy-damage kinda machine. If you're farming with others and are worrieda 'bout that, then strap on a loaded X or even a B... right tools for the right job

Any 2-gun Tier3 ship will outdamage an A-Wing. Single high-mass guns don't do great damage compared to two lower mass guns. Two 1500-2000 guns don't weigh that much. That's like having a 3000-4000 point gun!!! A gun that size is prohibitive on an A-Wing.
Ranks give you access to better equipment, but not all equipment is appropriate on all airframes. Most cost/benefits peter out about Tier7.

If you geared up in November, its been months for people to get multiple RE guns to load into 2-3 gun ships and they will always win, expecially when using the Overloads. Awing is fine when you dont want to PvE loot hog from friends, but its really a PvP ship. Use it to help in missions, use it to distract enemies, but dont expect to win loot battles against players in ships with double or triple your firepower.
Cross faction chips are often available on the bazaars or on vendors depending on server. do a bit of digging and you too can take advantage of the synergies the other people are.

using a simple re'd lvl8 reward gun that anyone should be able to get, i consistantly out damage my wingmen in x-wings/b-sings/freelance ships. make sure you are running weapon overload 3 and learn how to place your shots. if you havent been playing in a while, then your aim may be off a bit.
