The joystick/mouse control scheme (though the mouse was pretty cool to use in Freelancer) doesn't really sound like my idea of Star Warsie control. Is this how Lucasarts is trying to get away with not making a new TIE/X-Wing game?

I don't remember a buncha joysticks attached anywhere in the cockpits of the ships (other than perhaps TIEs and the Naboo figher). Managing the ships movement via control panel type flight could create for a more tactical/strategic system to me. On the YT1300 type ships you could style be trigger happy via the gun turrets.

I dunno maybe I'm being too nitpicky, especially since I haven't played it yet. I just like to drop thoughts whenever they occur to me.

Your definately being to nit picky for not having played it yet lmao. Yes it's quite a lot like the classic Xwing vs Tie Fighter game, plays a little slower though. Beautiful visuals, lots of fun
