Thread: Current Professions and Skill Points & JtL Professions and Skill Points

Will those of us who have like, 1-2 Skill Points left and have mastered 2-3 Professions have to DROP (stupidly) current professions?

Or will we get extra skill points to get there first?

Reason being that although alot of us will be in space for a while, some of us will be ground-bound for a time if we have damaged ships and not enough money to fix them, etc.

In that time, we'll either have to keep up with our businesses to make money to fix our ships, or take lots of missions.

So rather than Gimp us and like 75% of the SWG Population has to drop alot of skills, we'll get more Skill Points, right?

This is my major worry.

Sounds like the problem has been solved. Cool.

It has been said in numerous places that shipwright will be the only "new" profession that will cost current skill points. Space combat doesn't effect the balance of ground combat, and you won't use up those skill points for pilot.

I really hope they don't change things and make it skill points . . . you know some folks would forego using them toward piloting and we'd see a rush of uber-mixes on the ground, leading to more nerfing and a new reballance *sigh*

I was at E3 and the rep told me they may give additional skill points with JTL so crafters and such would be able to pickup shipwright.

My impression is that the game is done (graphics, combat and control, etc.) but details like that and are still open for debate. Details and content are the only things being worked on until launch,( and it is a completely seperate team if you did not know so resources are not being pulled from ground game)

The game really looked kick ass, and with almost 6 months to work on polishing it up I have very high expectations.

oh yeah, and from the way I understood what the rep was saying prestige points are not used to advance in piloting professions. They are sort of like a ranking system. He kept saying advancing was content based, meaning you had to complete missions to advance, not just blow up ships......

Ah, cool. I think many of us understood the term "prestige points" to be the alternate points given by completing the missions that would move us up the piloting trees, and the ranking system another thing entirely and as of yet unnamed.

Prestige points were earned every time he blew up an opposing fighter.......

they won't give any more points. Come on. I hope they do.... but they won't. Unless someone at E3 heard different
