Is it just me, or is pirate trap a completely useless skill? In my experience at least the pirates will always attack the player who called them.

lol... I believe the description to the skill does say they will attack everything in sight. So it would seem that only the Imperials bomber strike call would be the only fully useful reinforcment call command between the 3 professions. Rebels don't have anything of the sort except in flight repairs/resupply.

pirate trap could be useful to provide about 5 seconds of cover from what ive heard, but 5 seconds can soemtimes be enough to hit the booster and high tail it,vie had to do it many times with IFF

Did you target something (besides a space station) before you called it?

I am climbing the ranks of the SA with my alt and it just seems this skill is a waste of time, everytime I use it it spawns some ships which just attack me lol! thats helpful in the situations when i need it

At first I thought this skill would be good, kinda like the amazingly helpful bomber strike, Im just wondering are there any tircks to make this skill worthwhile or is it just another broken ability thats a waste of a toolbar space.

Thanks

yea i barely used it either, in some situations they may distract the other fighters from attacking me, but for the most part seemed like it just made more people shooting me and making my shield light up and causing flying and aiming harder. Couldn't imagine it on a not so swell computer.

Also i never understood the upgraded version of it. They still are tier one guys, but they are now instead of syck's they are dunelizards i believe. No point in that i prefer sending out syck's they are harder to hit. You send out the dunelizards and any tier 3-4 guy will take them out in no time due to their slow movements and larger size.

here's how i use pirate trap: when im in a little trouble (not a lot), i hit my escape macro (which goes to a relatively safe hyper pt in the curr sector; after the '75% complete' msg, i hit ptrap; the pirates come in just b4 i jump and keep the bogies busy while i repair; i can get back and at least a little dmg was done in the meantime.

i learned the hard way that doing ptrap when ill still b in the mix is not a good idea. best used when ur gonna skeet for a bit. haven't used ptrap2 yet, tho. mbe better at dealing dmg?

cheers...

As somebody who has bomberstrike, and teams up with a neutral Ace often...I think even the Bomberstrike 1 is better than Pirate Trap And my partner agrees. Not a very good skill, looks like, even if it is interesting seeing a hornet's nest of pirate and Imp ships circling our targets.

Yeah, pirate trap is crap. I've used ptrap2 on the vette before, it helps to keep the guns distracted, and if you call it from far enough away, you don't get shot at by the pirates quite so much. Otherwise it's nearly useless in my experience.

Whats sad is the pirates are so weak that you can't even call them to farm exp off them.
