Thread: How do I do overloads?
Depends which Pilot profession you are.
"Overloads" are droid commands; special abilities you can program into your flight computer or astromech. You can then execute those commands while you're in space. The most used ones are the various overload command, but there are also things like Capacitor to Shield Shunt and shield adjustments.
The overload commands are broken up by faction:
Weapon Overload - Imperial
Engine Overload - Imperial
Reactor Overload - Privateer
Capacitor Overload - Privateer
Each one of these commands improves the performance of the specific component, at the expense of doing damage to it. All overloads, up to and including level 3, do damage that is fixable on the ground. Level 4 overload commandswill decay your components.
If your specific pilot prof doesn't have the overload command you want (Rebel mostly), you'll have to buy a preprogrammed droid command chip, or find a friendly pilot and have them program a blank chip for you. Once you have the chip in your inventory, you can program it into your flight computer just like your normal droid commands.
Once in space, hit the hotkey you've assigned to the command, and your droid executes the overload. The overload lasts until you land or repair.

my personal droid setup
Weapon overload 3 (imperial)
Engin overload 4 (imperial)
Engin overload 3 (imperial)
reactor overcharge 4 (freelance)
capacitor overcharge 4 (freelance)
Capacitor to shield shunt 4 (freelance)
note that i use two engin overloads one for my high charge reactors and one for low mass reactors. note i use EO4 in sequence staring with reactor overcharge 4 then cap overchareg then wep overload, finaly Engin overload 4.
if you don't do it in order your engin will suck to much power and disable most of your ship.
note you need to have atleast 2k free unused reactor power to use Engin overload 4 with 0% loss to other systems. i would sugest a 16kgen reactor at arounmd 14k 18k mass depending on your shipwright.
