Thread: Questions about Yavin Rebel Missions and Y-Wings

I'm really liking JTL. I haven't played SWG for too long. I had about a month with the old combat system before all the changes and I got JTL with my ROTW download, which was the main reason I got the new expansion.

I have a character working on the Rebel Missions and was sent to the Yavin system. One of the available missions has to do with disabling an Imperial ship. I believe the way to do that is using the [ ]keys to select ship systems to damage. I did all that but wasn't sure how to steal the Imperial ship. I wound up blowing it out of the sky. How exactly do you steel an Imperial ship as the mission states?

My other question is about Y-Wings. I've still got the "freebie" ship that was given to me, and I'd really like to upgrade toa Y-Wing. I just can't find any Y-Wing schematics for sale on the Bazaar. I'm thinking I may have to work up my crafting skills to make one myself. Are the Z-95's for sale on the Bazaar any different than the "freebie Z-95" I was given? I'd like to upgrade my ship, but I seem limited because of the overall mass, so it seems like I can't do much.

Definitely go for y-wing. Its a tank and will help. The z-95 on bazaar should be upgradable. not too sure. I think once you disable the ship your mission should automatically send a droid to take over the ship that you will need to escort back. Thats the way i remember it anyway.

Good luck.

Use the [] keys to select either the Engine or the Reactor to disable the ship. Make sure it that component stays targetted as getting hit by another ship can remove the targetting. When you get to 0% it will untarget that component and many times moves to the next component in the list, so stop shooting. You should see a system message that you've disabled the target.

With most missions once it's disabled you just need to be within a couple hundred meters for the "takeover" of the ship to happen.

To look for a Y-Wing, use the Vendor Location tab on the Bazaar. You'll usually need to at least select the entire planet to search. This tab is a list of the items on player's vendors. You're much more likely to find a Y-Wing that way. You can get a waypoint for the shop to purchase the chassis.

Once you do get the Y-Wing, know that while it has 2 gun placements, the pilot can only use 1. The 2nd gun is a turret for a 2nd player to use. With the Y-Wing Longprobe you get on tier 2, the pilot gets both guns to fire.

Cancelled 7/27/05 - I joined to play Star Wars, not Jedi-BH Wars. You've ignored/gutted/abused just about every other profession in the game, while spending most of your time working on Jedi and BH as they related to Jedi. You've basically killed the game for anyone who doesn't want the glowstick. Congratulations.

A good player crafted Z95 will have about 1k more mass than your prototype.

If you think you'd like a slower heavier ship with lots more mass, go for the Ywing.

However, if you like the light and fast Z then maybe you should attempt to find one of the new "Heavy" Z95s

I have no idea how common they would be on your server, or how expensive, since they take asteroid resources to make.

An alternate route would be to begin the space mining missions, mine yourself 1k asteroid Iron, 1k asteroid petrochem, and find a shipwright.

The Heavy Z95 has 95k mass and is hideously unfair as it makes a lot of the tough equipment decisions meaningless, but it's a good little ship

[note: personally I am against having a ship that choice available at Novice, but hey, I'm not about to stop you if you want to do the work or pay the creds to get one. the "heavy noobs" have over 800% more mass, with no performance cut, I have no idea what they were on when this got approved]

When in space hit " j " it'll call up the quest journal, find your mission and it'll tell you. It's been awhile sense I've done that mission but I think you either scan then dock or just dock. And don't forget to disable it's weapon using the [ ] keys. THere's a bug that lets the shuttles with disabled reactors still shoot and those things can pack a wholp.

As for upgrading to another ship, my advice is to stick with the z-95 for awhile untill you get certed for the Y-Wing 'Longprobe'. It's a better ship and you don't need a second pilot to control the second gun. Got a good weapon capacitor and two good guns aswell as a strong shield and you're almostunstoppable.

Good luck you there, pilot!
