Thread: astrometrics in a TIE? bonus: droid vs flight computer

I finally got my Tier 1 Astrometrics Cert, so I thought I'd be able to take advantage of all the fancy droid commands. however, my newbie Tie Fighter does not appear to want to accept any kind of droid or ship's computer. I tried putting in a droid interface and then putting my astrometrics droid (all programmed with all the astrometrics commands I know) into the ship but it wouldn't install (no error message or anything, just didn't work). then I tried putting in the flight computer my brother had built me (level 2 I believe it was, so I should be certified for it) and that wouldn't fit in either. are the baseline Ties just not able to use droid commands of any kind (note: mass is not an issue, I made sure to free up enough mass to make it work even with the droid interface)? I'm next up to be certified for a TIE/ln (in? there seems to be some debate), will that allow me to use droid commands? thanks in advance.

bonus question: is the droid interface required even if I'm not using an astrometrics droid? I'm a little confused about the whole astrometrics/flight computer thing: as an Imperial pilot, am I ever going to use an astrometrics droid? if so: why would I want to over a ship's computer? what are the differences, how does this work!

Droid Interface: Required to be able to use any Nav comp or Astromech at all...

The lower the reaction time, the less time you need to wait between loading 2 commands.

Astromechs = Only used by the following ships:

Jedi Star Fighter, X-Wing, X-Wing advanced, Y-Wing, Y-Wing *Longprobe*

These ships can not use Nav computers!!!

Nav Computers = Used by all other ships, not mentioned above...

As long as you are not xxx3 Pilot you should not bother with them though. The stuff below xxx3 can not store enough commands to really enhance you enough. And besides... the Mission targets are no real danger until you hit tier 3 ^_^

TIE Fighters can only use ‘Flight Computers”.

The Droid interface gives your flight computer the ability to communicate with your ship and how often.

You cannot install a flight computer or use the droid commands until you have the qualifying skills to use them.

There is a bug however, if you are certified to use a Flight Computer and you still cannot install it, “Disconnect” and try again.

I will display the "Test Center" icon until SWG is bug free.

Newbie ships do not accept flight computers or astromechs. You'll actually have to buy a ship to use those things.
