Thread: Something I was thinking about for JTL

This is my idea to liven up space PvP.

I like to start off by saying that JTL feel like it is a separate game sitting on top of SWG. Few people use it

and I was thinking the other day on how it could be brought into the GCW and Make it feel like it is part of the

game. Here is my idea.

Each system has on average 4 sectors in it. What if a space station was added to each of the sectors for control?

Just for the sake of example let’s say that a station is under Rebel control. This Space station could have like say

100+ turrets on it and it could spawn all kinds of ships ( X-wings, Z-95, A-wings, B-wings and maybe a few Gunboats)

Not the Tier 1 or 2 stuff. I am talking tier 4 and 5 stuff.

Now if the Imperials want control of it. Here is what they would have to do. First fight the spawn down. Then

take out the space station turrets and when half of the turrets are gone the station would spawn reinforcements.

Then the group would have to fight that spawn off. Then finish the turrets off. Now once that is done they would

have to land on the station and fight in a ground base environment to take control of this station. Have it so the

group has to slice terminals like they do to take down the bases, but instead of blowing up the station it switches

it to Imperial Control. When that happens the group then launches back into space and has to guard it for thirty

minutes for the turrets to respawn and to start producing it own spawn of ships. The first wave of Ties could come

from an Imperial Star Destroyer that spawns into the system ten minutes after capture and drops off some Tie

fighters at the station. If the Rebels want it back then they could then do they same thing to take it back.

I would like to see two of these stations PVE (Combatant) and the other two PVP (Special Forces). Maybe put two

space stations per planet space instead of foue. One PVP and one PVE. The PVP station you could go overt and attack

it and or defend it in space or on the space station by fighting the ones trying to board it to take it over. I

think this would add a new dimension to Space

And how does filling, say Naboo space, with Tier 4 and 5 fighters help people who are just starting to learn to fly? How does filling Endor with Rebel spawns benefit anyone? The problem with trying to apply the "planetary control" to space is that the missions are required to advance, and being blown away in Tier 4 TIEs when you're flying a Z-95, or getting assaulted by Tier 5 X-wings while you're trying to do your Storm Squadron missions (already fairly long on their own) is just not appropriate. Yeah, we could use some sort of GCW in space, but this is a really, really bad idea.

The Devs have stated over and over again space is a verydangerous place to be. It is not suppose to be a walk in the park and be easy. You are missing the point here though. The idea can be tweaked. Stop being closed minded. That is why it was an idea. To get the wheels spinning so to speak. Instead you dismiss it and moved on. Why don't you put forth an idea.

I like it, incorporates the all important Space game with the ground game.

It's not a new idea. People keep bringing it up, because that's how the ground game works. But space does not work the same way, and to attempt to put the system we have on the ground into space is just stupid. Yes, I dismissed it and moved on. Because I've seen it so many times that it isn't worth talking about anymore. I just show you the logical problems with the idea, and we can drop it. It's like the FS Conversion/Jedi Powers in space arguments. They aren't even needed anymore.

A good start, Samath, but the problem is the implementation...how, and where? The only way it might be done in the current space zonesis to put these stations in some remote corner of the zones, make sure those spawns don't *drift away*, or get pulled away, and make sure that no pilot progression missions go near them...all this would be tough to do, to say nothing of the lag something like this might cause. However, I do have appreciation for anyone that not only does try to post a new idea, but also has at least the broad strokes of it worked out. I saw a post along this stripe a few months back, and whoever it was (sorry, don't remember your name) mentioned something about instanced space zones for this kind of thing...base capture, capital ship capture, etc.

Treena - If this idea, and others like it are not worth talking about, why post in it? In fact, now that I think about it, I have not really seen you post any kind of new idea at all. Rather, you seem to just jump in, and stomp on an idea someone else has. I don't understand the point of that, to tell you the truth. You also mention the FS threads, and the like...why is it that you, and most of the frequent posters in the pilot forum almost always jump into those discussions, but I hardly ever see any of you contributing to a discussion about new contentthat is worthwhile...why is this? Several people have tried to post ideas for new content in space, and yet these posts seem to be largely ignored by the frequent posters. This is a shame, because sometimes the ideas are good.

That being said, I am sure that everyone (including me) does appreciate your (and the other frequent posters') contributions in the areas of help, tips, etc.

Eh as the way i see space stands now, its been doing OK alot of people who are space lovers hate ground and dontlike the system that it employs. Now if one day a guy just happens to go within 600m of an imp station and lets say hes reb, well we all know what happens.

That brings the issure of newbs getting blown to pieces and never flying again because they got utterly humiliated ont heir first flight. I know ull say get over it but it if u just start a game you shouldnt have armegeddan coming down on your ship.

There is a station with 100 guns, its called the star destroyer. Go blow it up.

I would like just a bit more pvp or something to entertain a bit more like landing ons tatons and doing missions or being able to invite people to massive pvp battles ind eep space and such.

Possobly have a score of 1000 reb 1000 imp, each person who gets killed is -1 until one hits 0, that would control a secor of space. or have control points that could be captured over time. but the base with turrets idea...eh i think its a bad idea
