The way i did all of teir 3 in 1 night was to get my friend who was also grinding teir 3 to do the missions at the same time. pretty much everything spawns in the same place so you can help each other do the missions very easily. Other than getting some mates along im not sure theres much else you can do.

Taking gunboats is a bit of work. Go look for Imperial tactics for hitting gunboats. We have less mass than you, and we can do it. (Try taking a shuttle in a 50k ship with ONE gun.)
You have speed on your side, but never enough. You can't tangle with both the shuttles and the fighters. So go in, hit a fighter, and run. You want to draw the fighters away from the shuttles. Once you get far enough, turn and take out the fight, then you can hit the shuttles. If you dogfight around a shuttle, death awaits you. Don't go there.
Another tactic is to hit and run the shuttles while avoiding the fighters. If you have a fast enough engine w/ engine overload 2, you might be able to slowly take out the shuttles (disable their guns, then their engines), then take out the escort. Finally, mop up the shuttles. (Often, you need to get rid of everyone in a scenario, but it usually goes shuttle, then fighters. If you disable the shuttles, the jump-out timer for the fighters won't activate, so you can take your time getting rid of the fighters, then take out the shuttles. You disable engines on shuttles so that they don't explode from being disabled.)
When approaching a shuttle head on, stick below the nose or at the belly. They have trouble shooting there. Exit via the shuttle's belly, as they have no gun there. Approach and retreat are critical in taking minimum damage.
Run away until your shields regen or use captacitor-to-shield shunt 2.
If you don't have an astro-mech, you are crazy. They are vital to piloting.
Refit, refit, refit. As you fail these mission, identify what your failure was, and correct it.
Don't rely on armor. Armor just keeps you from dying. It's limited insurance. Not good, that. You are usually better of with better shields.
One gun firing continuously is better than two that keep running out, then being helpless in combat as your guns barely fire. Cap overload is gold. Weapons Overload is handy, too.
You have 30 minutes to complete any one scenario. You can drag a fight out. Use your time advantage.
And finally, in any tough scenario, failing it while still alive is better than failing it quickly and being dead.
If you need to break aggro and get a rest, jump in-quadrant. The enemy will lose you, and you'll get some breathing room. Then, you can go back in at whatever angle is safest for you.

Hello all
I'm a Rebel Pilot with skills of 3,3,2,2. And I'm working on my 3rd story line mission given by my pilot trainer, and I'm haveing a verry difficult time completing it. Its the one mission where you need to assist 3 other X-wings take out a bunch of Ties, and 2 Lamda Shuttles. I've tried various tactics such as going for the shuttles first, and waiting back a little minut for the other X-wings to engage, but I either get destroyed myself, or the other three X-wings get destroyed, and mission fails.
I was using an X-wing with lvl 7 equipment, at least what would fit on the X-wing. I finaly went back to using the Y-wing longprobe because of it's larger carrying capacity, and this did help me make it a little farther into the mission, but I'm still getting beat up.
So I was looking for some advice on how to complete this mission, so I can move on, and hopefully be a master pilot some day. If any of you have a suggestion for ship setup, please let me know. Maybe a sugestion as to what equipment is best for a Y-wing, or X-wing, and maybe some strategic tips for completing the mission.
I'm going to see if some guild members will be able to help me with the mission later today, but not many of the guild members don't play JTL.
You can also catch me in the game on the Corbantis server, by the name of Rifficus.
Thanks in advance for your sugestions.

It never hurts to have a few T4 or master pilots from your guild help by distracting or beating up the opposition.
Cap overload + Cap to Shield shunt = stay alive indefinately
