Thread: Ships for the people
Freighters/Cap Ships: Not too many existing that I can think of that I'd really like to pilot myself, but the YV-666 or the YT-2000 come to mind as ships I wouldn't mind flying.
Actually, the YT-2000 is probably the only YT design I'd like to spend any significant amount of time in. I'm sorry, but that offset cockpit pod is just a bad design. Lousy visibility, poor spacial awareness ...
Player controlled:
- TIE Defender
- Lambda Shuttle
- Skipray Blastboat
- YT2400
- Imperial Sentinel class shuttle
- Miy'til Fighter
- Rebel T-Wing
- Kuat A-9
- Kuat Drive Yards Starwind-class Pleasure Yacht
- MandalMotors Starviper
- MandalMotors Pursuer Enforcement Ship
- SoroSuub Preybird-class Starfighter
- E-Wing
- Sith Infiltrator
- Sith fighter
- Original design Jedi Starfighter
Ok, now onto the NPC's.... (basically... we need way WAY more capital ships that actually move and have their own fighter screens. Included in this should be the obvious standards. Lets say we keep it simple....
Imperial Task Force One... Imperial Star Destroyer (or even a Victory-Class ISD) give it a Nebulon frigate escort (mush like the one outside Endor Space Station) some gunboats and a few Lambda's supported by 2-5 squads of NPC intercpeters and TIE's
Rebel Task Force one. Make it the same but different... LOL! Use "Home-One" (the largest Rebel ship during the Endor mission at the end of ROTJ) again, supported by a Nebulon frigate (these were used extensively by both sides in the GCW. Examples are shown by Reb's using it in ESB/ROTJ and Imp's using it in the entire XWing/TIE Series of games) additionally gunboats, medium shuttles, and 2-5 escort squadrons of XWings/Awings.
In addition to all of that, where the heck is the rest of the galaxy? More big fat ugly transports! More small shuttles going about their business. It seems that currently every pilot in the galaxy flies a fighter. Where are the NPC miners? Transports actually travelling on defined space lanes? I would love to see some of this put in.
The current AI follows a flight pattern vs a go from a to b to c type pattern. I'd like to see NPC ships that seemed to actually be "doing something" other than just flying circles around static spawns in space. They need to wander more, find their own way from point A to B....
anyhow... there ya go. You can find info on most of these ships at the following website... http://frankg.dgne.com/swsv/index.shtml
