Since I am the only one I know that can pilot my YT-1300, I've never been in a turret when it's being flown. I have a question regarding targeting and following enemy fighters. Is dead center the same for both the turret and the pilot? Somehow I got it in my mind that perhaps the turret point of view would be a little bit to port since the cockpit is starboard from the center of the ship. Also, does anyone know how much overlap there is between the top and bottom turret firing range hemispheres?

Valid questions, lets see if i can help...
The Pilots POV outside of ship is centered, as is the gunners. The 2 gunner Fire arc's do not overlap, which is tricky, but easy enough to deal with. The upper gunner's fire arc stops just barely short and above of dead center for pilot, ditto for bottom gunner except their fire arc stops just below.
Some tips, if you arent going to park the YT and act as a stationary turret, then tell your gunners to keep their primary attention towards the front of the craft unlesss you tell them otherwise, then do your best to keep enemy in front of the ship being careful to move in slow and smooth sweeping arcs. If you dodge and swerve all over they wont be able to hit anything, regardless of how good they may be at gunning.
Hope that helps.

I have got a YT-1300. Yes you can have your gunners just face forward while you chace and they shoot. The best use for them is to fly slow and steady it is very hard for them to track a target if your turning, stay with in 600 range of the fighters cause that is the range of yourguns. If you go into battle with tier 4's or above it is highly advisable that you have a starfighter escort, and a full crew: pilot, co-poilot, engineer (repairs), medic/doctor, and 2 gunners. I have also found that if you should take your crew out to practice on some easy targets first. Go to a place like Lok and spend a little time with the tier 3 pirates for example. I also highly advise you get the tier 3 imp engine and weapon overload commands then tier 4 rebel shield commands. You will need them if you go up against difficult enemys.

Starfighter Escorts are for incompetent crews!
j/k
I personally have never used one on purpose (the occasional fighter has joined up along side me). And have torn through the Black Sun duty mission with no problem (all tier 4 and 5). I've handled tier 5's in Dath, and made successful Star Destroyer runs. Just make sure your communication is crisp and you are in no hurry, things go faster in a fighter but are SO much more satisfying in the Flare. Get a crew that knows what to expect and get the communication right.
