epulse1, epulse2, and epulse3 are all nerfed.
the've been boffed down about 75% damage and 75% radius by my reasoning .
example: I am helping my sis with her tier1 missions and i used to be able to epulse2 (to save my shields) and blow up (easily) waves of 4 tier1-2 fighters - i think I could even blast tier3's pretty good too) but last night I fly out at the incomming ships and epulse. they all took damage but none blew up! and the damage was like 20%! these are tier1 ships ok. TIER1 and I'm a master pilot.
I was a little taken aback, so I tried epulse3 with practially the same results! only, this time I had no shields too.
it looks like the damage given and the radius of the damage has been severely reduced. it seems likely that this balancing is simply to address the griefing issue of epulse, and I support that (since I've blown up my groupmates on one occasion
), but I would prefer if they could have fixed that without weakening the special.
especiallyl since epulse was my favorite thing to wow my friends with, and it's really the only special worth anything that is privateer-specific. ptrap is a funny joke! good for a momentary distraction though
there, I've done it. I've complained about something
! I'm not in the habit of doing that btw!

Apparently it is a known issue. According to some CSR (yeah I know, great help there).

Yeah pirate trap is good when you're alone and bored and want something to fight, cause do doubt they come after you first. They remind me of the old days of "mudding" when you sat in a healing room but wanted to fight something, so you'd have an item that summoned creatures to fight with you.
