Hi all, sorry if this has been covered but I've been looking very hard to find similar posts.
Does anynoe know why I might suddenly have no control over my craft in space ? I seem to be stuck in view mode..
I know you're supposed to be able to press the INS key to get this mode (has never worked before) but now I'm STUCK in this mode. I can't control my ship AT ALL (!) No point even being in space.
I have an English (UK) keyboard, I play from the UK.. any help MUCH appreciated.I really hope this isn't a keyboard issue as SWG already doesn't recognise UK "\" key.

Don't know about UK keyboards but on mine it is controlled by the number lock key on the keypad.

I tried that as well just in case (thanks for the quick reply btw).... No luck

it happens to me at times too. For me the problem was in the form of a blinking cursor in the chat box. When none of my ship controls work, I frantically hit ESC a bunch of times, then every thing is ok again. Also, the stupid toggle of mouse mode really bothers me but I've gotten used to it. I'll have to live with it as long as I want to control my ship with a mouse and also use it for the GUI.

have you tried the "." key on the numpad?
Long shot but might work. "." as in .
In america they call it period but that is so uncalled for

GHaa nope.. That didn't work either.The "." key (UK known as "full stop") on the numpad only gives reverse camera to look behind the ship. This is SO frustrating.

Thanks for your suggestion as well Wokka.Tried frantically hitting the escape. Strangely therapeutic but it didn't work
BTW - I've been playing JTL for weeks. I didn't get into this mode by hitting a key. I just launched into space today and it's all stuck in View mode. Frustrating and embarrassing when a tier 1 ship takes ten minutes to kill you and you can't even maneuver to return a single shot.

Hehe DOH! what an idiot I am.
nope.. not that one (of course it's the first key I tried) I'm used to playing the game btw.
This one is either a new bug or some recent patch screwup ? (eg:discounted UK keyboard or something)

If I might take a shot at this.
First off, do you use a joystick, or do you pilot with the mouse? If it's with the mouse, you might have swapped your mouse into "mouse look only" mode. Or the game might be on "auto-select" and brilliantly have decided to force the mouse into mouse look mode. In that case, go into Options and into the Control settings (I don't have the game in front of me, but it's in there) and pick the option to FORCE the mouse to act as a vitrual joystick.
If you already have a joystick, and the JOYSTICK is operating as mouse look. . . wow, that's messed up.

Thank you THANK you! Yes I'd recently attached a USB controller ( I had no idea it would act as a joystick! ) All your suggestions were right, and I'm up and running again properly now.

(had it been a UK keyboard issue I'd have simply killed both accounts there and then)
