The mission that lets me take my ship directly to the Emperors Retreat is a GODSEND!
Anyone know of a mission that will let us go directly to the village?

Yup ...take the mission the old man gives you and you can drive right to the village.
They haven't installed the new landing platform, hangers, and control tower yet. They've been kinda busy fighting off endless attacks, rebuilding what they had, and assaulting the folks trying to destroy the village though.
