You know, it is bad enough that during combat I have to put up with the distraction of guildchat, groupchat, /tells from people who are unaware of my combat status... all that I can deal with and get back to when I am more available....
But... the NPC popup animation must die! (or at least have a switch to turn it off)
I find it distracting at best, and usually it creates some lag issue that causes the target to jerk around in the firing window... this leads to loss of targeting until you can recover, and depending on the speed of the target, that can take some time.
Getting the targeting cursor to actually sit where it is supposed to would be nice also, but I can compensate for that, the NPC combat chat / taunt is just plain annoying. It was neat the first time, but then the unsolicited commentary about how he is a better pilot gets old after you have heard the same thing for the 20th time.
TO THE DEVS: please do not force us to have to watch the little cartoon in combat.
TO THE CORRESPONDANT: please make sure this makes your list, and stays on the devs list as well.

Outside of being annoying, I couldnt agree more. NO need for it and it was funny the first time I saw it. Now it is clearly old and annoying. Give us a check box to turn it off.

The funniest thing is when you disable the thing and all of a sudden they say, "I've got you now, Eenu!"

Thanks Aden, I will try that tonight, and I will make sure to circulate it around my friends so they don't have the idiot telling them how they are no match for him as he gets vaporized.

Yeah, I was so very, very happy the day I found out about that command. It works on the ground, too, if you want to try it out as soon as you load. I didn't so much mind the lag from the box loading as I minded the fact that it obscured part of my screen. This was highly annoying if the target I was leading was already over on the left hand side of my view, because suddenly their stupid taunt actually STOPPED me from seeing them, and thus judging my shot.

I'll hazard to guess you are using a mouse to fly with. 2 of my RL friends were trying to play and 1 of them had to use a mouse while at my house. I knoticed the targeting rtical moves around alot with the mouse and allmost none at all with the 2 J-sticks, once the learning curve of useing the stick was over come and the dead zone and sensitivity were properly adjusted. We tryed adjusting the mouse but the bouncyness never went away.

Naw, using joystick on a cable connection. I do have a few lag issues normally (usually it is just slightly longer load times), but when the chat box pops up, the slight increase in lag makes the target lead cursor (and target as well) dance over the center of my screen, possibly as it takes the load lag as a 'no signal' kind of input and the target slides right out of the solution.
But aside from that, the NPC taunts are recycled and untrue. The ones like the stations that you actually /comm to receive are ok, as I actually ask for them. Maybe just get rid of the pretty little cartoon and reduce the taunt to text in spatial by means of a toggle in the UI options window.

I think it would be nice to have a toggle to turn it off or on. In Wing Commander the enemy video screen was very addictive. You would hear and see the taughting of your enemy and could reveal in your victory all the more when you shot them down in flames.
What we are missing here is a good "death" sequence. They never beg for mercy or scream out in pain as the ship implodes. Infact, they keep talking smack even right up to the very end. I don't think it is the video as much as it is what we are seeing does not fit the tempo of combat.
