Those were VERY POWERFUL prototype models on loan.KSE (Kuat Systems Engineering)later mass-produced a scaled-down version of the Firespray-Class around the Battle of Yavin.
The Firspray-Class would be a VERY viable merc/BH craft.

The Firespray-31 Patrol ClassVessel, made by Kuat System Engineer (KST) was made as a stealthy and speedy patrol-craft for security and Law-Enforcement. It's engines took up most of the compartment of the ship, providing the craft good acceleration and maneveurability. It lessened in popularity and use when the X-wing came out, and most security and patrol forces found the X-wing was a much more reliable craft.
The Firespray, though not quite commonly used anymore, and now quite frequently used by smugglers, actually they are also some smugglers' favorite ship due to its speed. Also Many Firesprays are now heavily modified from the stock versions, providing stronger shields, hull, and new weaponry. Granted they aren't quite common anymore, but nowhere near rare.

I want to craft it, twist it, tune it, modify it, weld it, put water circuitry in it, shave off external parts during collisionswith large scale space stations ( Death Star ? There is no DS. Darn rebel propaganda !) .....

heh Seriously, I don't like the idea of the "Slave 1" in SWG. Soon we will have mandalorian armor... of course this person will want a Firespray. not to mention I've never really liked the slave 1 el oh el
