Sounds good. Perhaps you could set these droids to fire more frequently or less frequently, depending on how much faith you have in your capacitor. You could have a slider on the HUD from 1 to 10. At 10, the droid would only fire when it had a target lined up and it was leading perfectly. At 1, it would fire in the general direction of a fighter, still targeting with the same efficiency, but with a chance of randomly intercepting any evasive maneuvers.

I definitely think that turret controls should also be revised. I haven't used a turret lately, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember that when the ship turned, so did the turret. I think that to make it easier and less ridiculous for a turret-manner, the turret should rotate on it's axis to counteract the ship's yaw or pitch, and keep doing so until it ran out of rotating room.

For example: When a turret was pointed straight up, and the gunner was looking at a particular star in their field of vision, and the ship rotated counterclockwise, the gunner would continue to look straight at that star, because his turret would begin to turn clockwise in relation to the ship. After a few seconds, though, the turret would no longer be able to turn clockwise and the gunner's field of view would begin to change as the turret began to turn counterclockwise.

I just think this would make it a lot easier to target ships from a turret. Feedback?

Greetings,

I am currently a Imperial Pilot Ace.

I loved working through the missions, and got to fly all the imperial ships.

My personal ship of choice at the moment is the Actis Interceptor.

Now this post is regarding multi turret ships (mainly the PoB kind).

Does everyone generally agree that these ships have severe design issues?

I do for the following reasons:

- When flying with friends, turret gunners have alot of trouble targeting , even when the pilot flies perfectly straight, since enemy ships will obviously fly by so fast that the time they are in "shooting" range is very small, due to the gunners limited range of motion.

- As multi-player ships, they are severly crippled when undermanned (turrets go to waste, on PoB ships, you can't run droid programs while piloting). So essentially , if my friend and I want to take the decimator out, I'll be flying, he's on a turret, and the other stations on the ship are not used, rendering the ship crippled.

- Operations station on these ships: Without shield shunt, ships get destroyed quite fast. Although droid programs are essential they are not enough to keep a player busy and interested. Switching from pilot station to operations to run a command is not a pleasant gameplay feature.

Ideas to aleviate these problems:

- Add "droid control modules" to the shipwright profession. These modules could man stations instead of players. Higher quality modules would be more "efficient" in their role. ie: A turret droid module, Operations Manager module etc etc. If PoB ships must be multiplayer, add a minimum player stations before the droid modules can function.

- Rework the turret system so it could allow quasi 360 degrees of freedom to the gunner.Something similar to what a tail gunner would have had on one of those huge WWII bombers. Aiming is hard enough when someone else is flying. A bigger "swivel range" would make gunner positions use more skill instead of positioning "luck".

As it stands there is very little incentive to craft/ purchase / pilot or man multi-turret and PoB ships.

I believe POB ships could be a very interesting element of space fighting were the "crew restrictions" to be modified.

I would be very interested in hearing the opinion of other experienced pilots, namely those with battle experience flying/manning the large PoB ships (ie the Decimator).

I do agree that a change does need to be made overall when it comes to multiplayer ships.

First and foremost turrets. I don't know what its like for the Nova, or YT-49 but in My YT 1300 You need at least 4 people. 1 pilot, 1 co-pilot, 2 gunners. Pilot and co-pilot are easy enough but the gunners have a tough time as mentioned above. Unless you go 100 - 200 speed its just too tough to hit anything especially when you need to be evasive.

You need to go so slow just to be effective in combat that your a sitting duck for enemies to shoot at. Since the equipment we currently can use for our multiships = that of a regular fighter we are basically in a heavier ship thats slower, has a lot more of a kill box, less effective in combat, and has defensives of a regular fighter. Not much of an advantage if you ask me.

The upcoming patch (Pub 24) looks like it will address these issues. Maybe it won't make the gunner posistion any easier but it will at least make it so that it hurts a lot more when you get shot at and our defenses will be a whole lot better.

Thanks guys, I'm glad to see we are on the same page.

It seems the big problem for everybody was well described by the 2nd poster.

- Turret rotation needs to be independent from ship rotation.

It's hard enough for turret gunners to hit anything when flying level at low speeds, let alone when the ships is moving.

I would like to address the quests for POB only question that has been on the tip of each discution but never gets out becouse we stillHave a host of pob problems to fix first.

I would have thought having pob ground/space missions would have been planned already, with an option to be boarded and have to fight off invaders instead of alway's blowing up.

Wouldnt it be more fun to have a M-falcon or firefly type adventure witch wouldnt be that hard to implememnt, prob only take a bit of cut/paisting on the dev's part.

I would like to see pob quets given on the ground I.E. Jabba himself only giving pob smuglers missions, ect,,,

And space quests that are given from space stations to pob ships only that would bring the crew into a combination quests that would accualy give these ships some life.

Most pilets and ship owners in SFmake there ships therehomes.

The pilet and crew live and adventure on the ship.

From this most great relation ships and stories arise. What vehicle do we have in swg better than the pob ship to creat the opportunity for such fun?

I do have such a great time when i get my crew together but the current problems and the lack of pob based content kill the whole experience.

Is it realy that hard to have pob terms with a bit more involved space content or combo ground/space quests for pob's?

Ive watched and read a lot SF and the one thing i think that keeps us reading is the comunity that forms from the set of cercumstances that throw a bunch of diforent people together on one small ship.

Just my 2 credits what do u have to say about all this?

I think thisare most of the salient points posted above.

I would however, like to see more POB ships in use out there.

Come on people, these things have got the mass, let's use it and get some crews together!

I totally disagree with 'droid control modules' for POB ships.

For one, with PUB 24 and the Elite part revamp, POB ships are going to be the beasts in space that they should have been from the start. therefore, making it possible for ONE person to bring that type of power to bear when ever they wanted would be game breaking, because then everyone would have a droid controlled POB flying around and blowing the sh!t out of everything.

POB were designed for group interaction, and should be left that way. It's a lot of fun when you have 4 or 5 people on your ship and your out there trying to blow stuff up. if you want a kickarse one-person ship then get one. Like an Oppressor or one of it's equivelants.

people need to stop crying for simplifying everything in the game down to a 3rd graders level of play. not a personal attack to anyone specific but that's the type of mentality that brought us the CU. and other nerfs.
