You've just outlined exactly what is wrong with space in general and especially with PvP. The heavy ships aren't good enough to be useful in most cases. Sure you should have the upper hand with a small fast ship but as it is today, you don't even have a fighting chance if you fly a B-Wing. I should have a hard time but shouldn't lose armor and shields in one hit.

I love a good challenge but "first shot wins" isn't typically very fun. I know you can have long, fun fights but even with an x-wing you're at a disadvantage due to size and slower speeds.

I would liek to see bigger differentiation in terms of durability from an a-wing or tie fighter to a B-Wing. The way that weapons scales might be satisfactory in PvE (killing tier 1-3s with high level equipment is kinda fun) but the fact is that damage scales too fast compared to shielding. When 1-2 shots is all it takes, it's more about SURPRISE than SKILL.

I think if all you 'pvp is fine' whiners actually tried a game where you didn't die in a few shots, you'd find it more fun as well. Actually it would be fun to play with level 1-2 weapons and high level shields just to try the theory...

If there's a post on this, would someone point me to it. I've notice for a little while that I'm doing far more damage and taking far more damage than the system should be allowing. Myself, several group members, and several Imp players /bug 'ed it the other day. It still seems to have not changed much if any. Damage appears to be hitting at 100%, and that's making for some lousy dogfighting and PvP.

Thanks in advance if you know of anything related.

PvP damage in space is fine for interceptor craft. Multiplayer Ships need a desperate upgrade if they can compete in the PvP department, however.

As it is, PvP fights are fast and furious and last until one player slips up and gets 2 or 3 shots on him. This is great fun, and fine for the normal one-person craft, but multiplayer ships are rendered useless.

PvP basicly boils down to who gets the first hit. fighter, heavy fighter, multiplayer, doesent matter. I think the system needs to be either balanced out or the heavy fighters like the rikhzerk, krayt and Bwings and the multiplayers need beefed up so they can take more hits. It seems kinda stupid to me that I can take on a PVE oppressor and it takes 10 to 15 hits, then take on the same ship in PVP and it goes down in 1 to 3? Somthing just aint right with that. But there are those that like it like it is and will argue to the death to keep it that way.

I can normally survive 2 shots in PVP. I like it fast and furious, just watch the movies, you didn't see those XWings tanking shots for five minutes. Not to mention, at the speed most PVP battles take place, and with Cap to Shield Shunt, if it took more than a handful of good shots the fight would never end.

The only problem I see with PvP in space is that chassis lose hps and it takes too long/too much effort , to respawn in deep space.

Should be Quake in space if you ask me...but then again....I would rather the ground game be twitch based as well...but that's just me

(FYI: dogfights between good pilots can last in excess of 5 minutes, and there is PvP damge reduction in place, its not 100% thats all im gonna say. been in this argument WAAAAAYYY to many times. To summrize everything i would say elequently with supporting arguments into the most common dood3 phrase.. "get more skill noob" )

True. But I would say that's an issue with how maneuverable our ships are.

There's really two issues with PvP and damage as I see it, the obvious pointlessness of flying anything heavier and the fact that ships are way too fast and too maneuverable. Merry-go-round fighting isn't that exiting in the long run...

But you're right, this is quite some can o' worms!

I love PvP as it is.

All that needs balancing is POB ships in my eyes.

For the heavier ships - you're designed to take down capital ships. You're not meant for fighting other interceptors. And use missiles.

The only problems with that is that there pretty much are no capital ships to take out, and the ones that exists are just as easy to take down with interceptors.

The fact still remains that they're simply not made to take out fighters.

The idea of a heavy ship is to have the mass (blown out of the window with the Advanced X-wing), gunslots and missle ports to be able to fly through a heavy fighter screen and unload a whole lot of firepower on a capital ship. In practice, however, there are never huge fighter screens and Capital Ships are easy to take down with simple hit-and-run attacks.

Yeees, but that just proves the entire flaw with the PvP damage. Heavy ships can't fly through heavy fighter screens since their shields won't help them at all against that fighter screen. Not more so than an interceptor.

Duels on the ground are pointless and without honor. Granted nothing makes me laugh harder as a CL 16 when one of my kills in space challanges me to a duel at CL 80. I love tormenting you worms. Its what I left XWA to do!!!

You earthworms get Zer0 respect. You character develops into a monster based on the time you have to invest in the game. IE the bigger a loser you are IRL the better a chance you have of becoming a Jedi! Lightsabers are crutches, the force is a farce. In space you either have it or you do not. You either possess some skill or you become the kill.

Till then, just keep going out in groups and slaughtering Pikets and Bols for xp, after all they are the equivilant to live stock, and it takes a brave person to wage war against herbivoreherd animals. Pathetic....
