Well, since I cant seem to find any official documentation, and nobody in game seems to know for sure, I'll ask you guys 
What happens when a ships chassis condition runs out? Do you lose the ship? Is the performance of the craft affected in any way? I love my Jedi Starfighter, but the chassis is now under 900 and I'm wondering if I should pack it away and switch to my TIE which can be replaced as my main grinding ship. Anyone know for sure?

The condition of your ship decays based on a percentage that is rounded, and since this percentage is less than 50% (I think it's 10% per death) the chassis will never reach less than 1 hitpoint.
So you will always have your JSF, but it will be destroyed easily after you loose your shields and armor. This sin't a huge deal in PvP since 99.99% of the time you will die anyway if you loose shields and armor, but I would strongly recommend using a replacable ship for grinding anyway.
