Can't seem to complete this mission. I get the mission from Lady Viopa, launch to space, fly to the waypoint... And theres nothing there. So after waiting for a long, long time I fly round' the sector until I find the Lamda spawn. I've inspected/disabled/docked/killed at least 50 of these things and none of them are the shuttle i'm looking for apparently. Is the ship i'm supposed to be looking for a mission specific spawn, or is it any random Lambda shuttle? Or is the mission just bugged?

I do not believe that the Lambda shuttle is mission specific. I think its on a short timer and can spawn anywhere within 2k of the waypoint. Having done this mission from Viopa a few times for various reasons, the WP is always in about the same place.

The best way to find the shuttle is to hang out and look ALL around for any Tie Fighter that reads as "Elite Guard." The shuttle will be near them. If it is not, then it is likely dead. I've found the shuttle some 5k away from the WP in the asteroids before.

All piloting missions givin by your NPC Trainers must be 'completed' before they will train you, reguardless of how much XP you have.

Ahh - the lovely inspect missions

Unfortunately it won't be a mission specific spawn, so other players may blow it up before you have chance to dock with it or there may even be players there with the same mission as you (which was a particular problem in the early days of JTL).

All you can do is stay in the vicinity of the waypoint and wait for the spawn (should be a fairly short timer).

It seems to be like the master pilot vette mission where if you don't destroy the escorts, it won't spawn the next time. I was helping out a friend doing this mission as it wasn't spawning and I found an elite guard tie which I destroyed. After that, the correct shuttle was spawning repeatedly at the waypoint and it was quite fast to get a new spawn.

Just did this misison tonight.

The Lambda isn't a mission-generated spawn, and it doesn't spawn automatically hostile to you. It will always be accomanied by two Elite Guard TIE Interceptors, which will be red to you and hostile. The Lambda can spawn anywhere around the waypoint. Best thing to do is to sit at the waypoint and type /target imperial. The name of the ship is "Imperial "Lambda" Shuttle, so using that command will automatically target the nearest one. Since it isn't hostile, you can't target it by tabbing.

Once you have it targeted, fly withing 150m of it, match it's speed, and hit the "i" button the keyboard or type /inspect to inspect it. If the inspection results indicate that it has the cargo you're looking for, cycle through the ship's components by using the [ ] keys, until you come to the reactor. Attack the ship until the reactor % hits 0 and it says "You have disabled your target." Type /dock and your ship will automatically dock with it.

If the inspection results don't show that it has what you're looking for, destroy it and go back to step 1.

After you've completed the docking procedure, you should get the mission completion message. If not, destroy the Elite Guards and you'll be good to go. You'll probably have to destroy the guards anyway.

And one final note, the mission will not work for you if you're the gunner on a 2 or 3 man ship. I was doing the mission for an alt using one of my master pilots for extra muscle, and had the lowbie alt sitting in the turret of a Krayt Gunship. I could inspect the shuttle, find the stuff I needed, and dock with it, but it would not complete. The person with the mission must be the pilot of his ship, and must be the one to inspect and dock with the Lambda.

That's exactly the way the mission works, and the steps above will get you a mission completion. If you follow the steps above to the letter, and don't get a completion after a couple tries, you'll probably have to file a CS ticket and see if they can help you.

Good luck.
