Thread: To all Possible Customers of JTL

I just thought I should add this point in case anyone about to buy this game is turned away by the constant bitching heard across the forums like nails on a chalk board.

The people who DO enjoy playing SWG and JTL don't tend to post it on this forum. I think that is obvious to anyone who acctually plays the game and sees plenty of people running around having a good time. However, someone only looking at this forum might not get that impression from all the players going through their period.

I know I may now get bitched at by those people now, but I just thought it fair that someone stand for the other side of things for once.

A lot of us who were on the beta also like the game but as we are from Europe a lot of the moans flying around are due to the delay in the game getting to us for whatever reason. I am looking forward to buying the expansion when it finally gets to the UK as i havent got the money to import a copy at present.

For those moaning about the game they should think themselves lucky they have a game to play at the moment as a large playing base doesn't at present and are deparate to play the game.

The game has also just come out of beta and there will of course be issues we the beta testers highlighted that still need fixed, so for those having issues in the game give them time to fix the bugs and don't judge on the first few weeks of playing.

Agreed Bob,

I've been playing SWG since July and have been more than satisfied with the game. Enter the forums and you think that the galaxy has imploded and that your account is about to be wiped out.

Just remember that it is always easier to criticize than praise. Also remember that many forum users are probably not old enough to vote either. Age is a factor in the way one processes information and the way it is conveyed.

You're right, the only people who post here are those who don't have their exact wants fulfilled by the devs. What they don't understand is the massive complexity of running a game like this, never mind fixing it and improving it. Hear! Hear for you post!

I for myself enjoy this game too.

It's really simple: we are not forced to play SWG or JTL. But when we do then we have fun.

There are two different things: criticism and complaining. The one helps to terminate flaws andis makingthe game better. The other is just disturbing.

For sure - there are many things to be solved in ANY MMORPG. But nobody can be perfect. Either the player nor the developper.

May the force be with you and have fun.... I have

Thanks for this positive post Bobamagoo!

Yours

I hear ya. Heck, I don't even bother looking at the Jedi forums anymore as it's practically nothing but complaints (Used to try to look for info, but ended up getting a headache instead)! Out of the 4 MMO's I've played in my time, I have to honestly say I've enjoyed this one the most. While CoH could be fun, it became sort of monotonous after awhile (No real rewards save for "power enhancements", endless repeating mission locales, etc.). As for FFXI Online, the game was far too group dependent to get anything accomplished. While I enjoy grouping, I also like to "solo" from time to time (do my own thing)...which was virtually impossible past a certain level in FFXI. And don't even get me started on my first online "obsession"...the dreaded EQ. To post the things wrong with that game would take more space than I care to use here.

Now, thanks to JtL, there will be 2 ways to play this game...a first for an MMO (incorporating 2 playstyles in one game). If you get bored with the ground game, go fly some some twitch-based space combat missions for awhile. And vice-versa. Will there be problems that arise? Of course. But that's to be expected in an ongoing game such as this. No MMO is bug free (And no, not even the much-"vaunted" and "overhyped" WoW). My friend "used" to be in beta for that but dumped it, and he's much more "hardcore" about these games than even I am.

Problem I see is people want overnight solutions to problems, which in a game of this size isn't all that easy. You have to consider the 1000's upon 1000's of lines of individual coding that goes into a game like this. It's not always easy to sort through that to see just where the bug lies. It takes time and effort. It takes a lot of testing and checking to see just where the problem exists, not to mention having to "recode" it just to get it right. And with new coding being added all the time, ultimately new problems will surface (It's an inevitability). If an MMO was a "finalized" product, with no updating whatsoever, bugs like you come against would be intolerable and would be a serious detriment to the product. But because these types of games are always a "work in progress", there's always time to fix the things that don't work.

In the end, people will always find a reason to complain, no matter what. Sad, but true.

/agree

I don't listen to the people on the fourms because their opinion doesn't mean [censored] to me.

If they hate the game, they keep it to themselves. Don't bloody post on the fourms just to turn people off.

It's [censored] like them that are turning people away.

I agree Bob, I do however do my share of complaining (Jedi Fiasco anyone?) but the Expansion pack is probably the single best thing to happen to SWG ever.

Dont' let the vocal minority scare you away.

I love this game, quirks and all. It's potential is limitless and from my first observations of playing JtLS last night... if the Combat Revamp and GCW Overhaul can come anywhere close to it then we are in for one helluv'a of great adventure...

Thanks SOE and LucasArts... things are starting to progress in the right direction.

I'm loving the irony of a poat where every poster has said the same thing.. which is that only players unhappy with the game post whilst they themselves love playing

Before you slap me down tho... I agree totally. The majority of posts are about issues people have with the game.. that's to be expected. Those having fun aren't spending time posting to the forums... why do that when you can be in game having fun?!?! I'm one of those people.. been here well over a year, played in beta both of the ground game and JTL and my post count is, for a player of my veterancy, very low. That's because all in all I'm happy with the game. Sure it has problems and issues, things that need to be fixed, addressed and balanced. But you know what.. it's still fun as it is!

It's only going to get better
