smooth? not by a longshot. The poor ba*****s who had invalid keys sort of messed it up....
and the flash speeder which is only for americans (euro has to pay double for preorder)
uh. ah! the launch, well it went... pretty well..

If that was a "launch", why aren't the dev's continually pulling down the servers ?
Seriously, I've never seen a launch of anything go so smoothly.
Kudos to the devs

I agree! Yea, there are some problems but you know, people were able to play on day 1 if they had it. Everything was up and running. Major accomplishment for an SOE game

I think it went REALLY well, it didn't even seem like a launch to me, certainly kudos to the devs

As I suspected, there's been many changes since even the beta ended, even the AI seems a bit different, a melding of the predictable sitting ducks they were at one point and the unbeatable, missile enema giving, synchronous turreting AI that was present in the last week of beta. Overall, it has been rather impressive how seamless it went, other than the massive download that makes the CD irrelevant.
They would have done better to allow existing subscribers to upgrade at a discount by simply emailing them the key. Who needs another CD game box sitting on their shelf? And you can't tell me the manufacturing costs of the CD box wouldn't make simple key code transaction financially unappealing.

Invalid keys? You mean for the flash speeder? One thing about the US: you ALWAYS need to read the fine print, and ignorance it bliss but it doesn't hold up in court. The speeder was issued via the beta program, and if you didn't participate in the beta program other than pushing the "add to cart" button, then too bad so sad. They made good on it, however, so why complain?
Did they have some other invalid key problem I didn't hear about? Granted, they should have anticipated those that ordered direct would get keys early, but that really didn't mess much up other than those that jumped the gun.

Heck this launch went better than some of SWG's earlier publishes (remembering the time servers were down for 19 hours on patch day).
Great job devs!
