Thread: Died twice in under 5 seconds?

Was doing some missions in noob space being a noob myself and got into trouble then I saw the big red eject button

So I ejects thinking it's the right thing to do and watched with a heavy heart my shiney tie fighter explode then the screen went black like it was going to load me back at the space station but instead of arriving there I was treated to another explosion and another death.

I landed to call it a day and discovered I had actually died twice and got the wounds for 2 deaths. How is this possible?

Did anything shoot you when you respawned?

I have noticed that anytime I have used the Eject button, I receive 200 pts of damage to my HAM... however, if I just let myself get blown-up without ejecting, I only get 100 pts of damage to HAM. I have no idea why the dev's have decided to do this, but it appears to be working as intended.

My advice, don't use eject unless there is nothing left around to kill you and you are stuck out in space. One thought, maybe 'eject' cuases less damage than being blown-up? I have never tested this theory... but it occured to me while typing this.

That's it ^^

You take more damage for yourself or you let your ship get all the damage ^^

no, when you eject all your components are destroyed. if you get blown up, odds are your chasis gets taken out before all of your other parts. i know that the last time i got pvp'd (this was before deeep space repairs) i respawned and the only things that took damage were my chasis and my engine. everything else was in perfect condition. had this happen a few times so it wasnt a fluke either.

Ejecting (from the few times when I've had to do it) only destroys the chassis. The components are at whatever level of damage they were at when I ejected (and suffered decay accordingly when repaired). When I let myself be destroyed, I lost a number of components before my chassis finally gave out. Just like when ejecting, only the damaged components were still damaged when I arrived at the station. It's a trade off. You can eject and take more physical damage to yourself in hopes of saving some money and component decay or you can allow yourself to be destroyed and get less damage to yourself in exchange for a higher repair bill and more decay to your parts.

No I can't say anything did since I didn't actually respawn, the loading screen didn't appear and when it should have I died again like I had reboarded my ship, very odd.

After talking with a couple of friends they say the same thing, eject and take most of the damage yourself or don't eject and your ship will suffer more. Makes sense but this still doesn't explain the double death

I have had this problem as well. It usually occurs when you're doing a mission in a different quadrant than the space station is in. There's no way to prevent it as far as I know. What planet were you over?

Once I ejected and got 400 wounds to everything but my BF which was 200. And no I had not blown up before. You'd think ejecting should be more beneficial then getting blown up. I don't understand why ejecting would hurt you more than being blown up.

i have had this happen to me too before. Where you at the time fighting near the space station? This was what happened to me. My enemy target and i was near the station so, when i re-spawned, i got attacked within seconds and was then destroyed having re-spawned in a disabled ship.

Mosty likely, you were aggro'ed by the same npc that you were fighting when you ejected. The only way i know of getting out of that situation is exactly what you did. Land
