Ok, I've about had it with this so Im posting. When I try and do any JTL missions, one of 3 things happen. I log in and get my mission, I go up and
1) Everything works fine and I have no problems. The game feels well balanced and I love the fun Im having.
2) No matter what I do, I can hit a damn thing. And time runs out before I can finish my mission.
3) Shoot at my taget, I see and hear it hit, but do NO DAMAGE whatsoever.
Now, there are days Ill log in and start out with number 1, log for lunch, or to take a break, log in and 2 or 3 happens.
yesterday 1-5-05 I was on nearly all day and had so much fun. 1 was in effect. Things were challenging and it was worth calling in to work becasue of snow.
but today, I go up and have 3. Can't Damage a fraking thing.
I explain this to my guild memebers but I really think they all think I'm a nut. Anyone else have this problem or is it me?

The server and your computer are not synchronized very well. Are you using a router, btw? You couldn't be experiencingheavypacket loss.

Yes I do have a router. My girlfriend and I play SWG through a cable modem. How can I check what your saying?

Join the club. It's some sort of bug in the game. There are various "solutions" to fixing it, but there are no known fixes for everyone. Good ping times and 0% packet loss are generally seen with you 2 and 3 issues. Usually tied in there is erratic flight patterns for NPC ships (known as drunken bees) and rubberbanding (speed dropping to 0 and then going back up). And, for the most part, you change nothing on your system except receive a game update, which takes you from always playing normal and having fun to having a really smelly load for a game.
It's a problem that, as I've read, existed back in the beta phase. It was reported, but has never been properly eliminated. My guess is, they band-aid the problem. That would explain new code being introduced being able to bring it back into play.
Check the tech support forum and you'll find a few threads about this.

I had the boomerang effect happen once and the drunken pilots happen recently. I understand that there are bugs, but its almost like once a wek I have a great time with the game.
and 4 days out of a month and paying $15 for those days is a ripoff.

I completely agree. However, tech support is wanting us to /bug the issue, and the dev's are apparently ignoring (no proof that they aren't reading them and looking into it, but no proof that they are, either) the /bug submissions. I know I've /bug'd this weeks ago. I'm sure other's have, done so, as well. Perhaps we need to sit down and /bug this every hour, every day, until it's fixed. The longer they take to look into it, the harder it gets for them to find the root cause (more content requires more code, more code takes longer to look through and trace/debug). I'd just love to have a 5 minute log of all client/server communication, along with every calculation being performed. An AVI or MPG of the 5 minute stretch would be nice, too. Just to be able to show people what we're talking about. I would be willing to be the dev's personal guinea pig for tracking this down and getting it fixed. But I'm smart enough to know that they would feel insulted to have an outsider (someone not a co-worker) telling them how to fix their code.
I'm just not holding my breath for a fix. If it happens, I'll be happy. If it doesn't, I'm gone.
