Lol, no they can't, I hate BF's controls, that crap is impossible to use lol, especially with my trackball mouse, turning is hard as hell.

I find using the mouse in JTL very difficult.

I have to move my mouse about 5 feet just to see it move about 1 inch on the screen.

I tried turning all of the sensitvity up, but no go, bummer.

It is not like the ground vehicles where you barely move you mouse and bam you are off in another direction.

I hope this isn't the way flight is.

Well it really depends on the ship your in. Different engines have different turning speeds.

Flight in BF is more or less on a 2 dimensional plane. You can pitch up and down but the controls are more suited to flying straight ahead and turning left and right with the ground always staying below you. You can't do barrel rolls or any fancy maneuvers.

In JTL you can control 3 axis of your ship:

Pitch - pointing the nose up and down

Roll - rotating about the axis that goes from the nose to tail, imagine yourself doing a side cart-wheel

Yaw - turning right and left

Rotating about all of these axis is true 3 dimensional movement. You can learn to do some fancy stuff.

I think the best pilots will fly like real-world fighter pilots. They will do cork screws, barrel rolls, and all sorts of crazy maneuvers.

Absolutely NOT! BF controls can be mastered in a day's time using a keyboard & mouse. To use a keyboard & mouse in JTL will make you're life a living hell. I tried it in beta, as I was cheap and didn't have a joystick, but after a day of either the mouse being too sensitive or not sensitive enough, i decided to invest $20 in a joystick. Trust me when I say, YOU NEED A JOYSTICK TO PLAY THIS GAME!!

Yikes Battlefront's controls are horride. Plus I always feel cramped trying to fly the ships in tiny area of space. JTL is true to mostspace combat sims. Plusit isinspace, you will not see players flying bywith an X-wingshooting bantha's.
