is it some sort of second edition tie fighter or something does anyone have a pic of it?

the look just like a normal Tie Fighter, except they have a purplish color to them

It just looks like a standard TIE Fighter.

It's a shame there isn't a bit more variety (looks wise) in the ImperialPilot tree.

yeah the TIE IN has a purple Tint, but in beta it also had 500 more mass capability then the normal tie, and that is worth every bit
