Which mode do you prefer to play in?
I tried playing in the default mode first, first person. I found that most of my field of view is covered by the cockpit. I could not
usually see what I was shooting at.
I then zoomed out to third person view via the mouse wheel. What a difference. It is a lot easer to play in this mode.
I am playing in third person mode from now on.

I use 1st person most of the time. Probably because I'm an old school flight sim fan heh.

Never cared much for 1st person...so I fly 3rd all the time. Much easier for me.

Depends on the cockpit. I flew 1st person through most of beta, flying Imperial and Neutral ships. I didn't really have any problems.
I'm a Rebel in live, and the Y-Wing cockpit just obscures everything. (No wonder none of them survived the battle of Yavin!) So I've switched to 3rd person and am really enjoying it. When I upgrade to the next chassis, I'll switch back to 1st and see if I still like it.

3rd person for me in combat, but 1st while flying to waypoints and patrols. The cockpit window bars block things, BUT you can turn off the cockpit view and you'll be able to see more while in 1st person. I'll turn it off if I'm feeling cocky...but that doesn't last too long.
