I have tried and tried and tried to do this mission. It's the one where you have to meet up with the transport and help it get back to the planet. Okay starts off easy enough, two ships come at me..I quickly dispatch of them. Then a second wave of 3 ships comes into play. By the time I get two ships gone, either my transport is so far ahead of me that it ends my mission or another wave of 4 ships comes into play and I am still trying to blow up the second set of 3. So I have a total of 7 ships hitting my transport and me. So does anyone have any helpful hints on how to beat this mission? Thanks in advance if you do.

Are you talking about the original Scripted Missions? or the Missions that you get to choose between protecting something and scouting? (Protect/Destroy) If it's the first option, i don't know what to say. i easily have done every mission so far until i got bumped to Yavinspace. If it's the second option, you can't defeat those missions. You stay out there till you get bored or fail the mission.

Stop trying to destroy the ships your job is get transport form point A to point B.

When the ships show target first ship hit [ this targets a subcomponent in this case pressing [ once target his engine disable his engine move to next ship.

If you worry about destroying each ship for loot you will lose this mission everytime.

Note pressing ] brings up reactor but you can cycle thru both to get to engine.

You will get other destroy missions or just launch into space for exp and loot.

If this is the first duty mission where you choose either destroy or escort, it's becomeincredibly difficult now after the newAI tweak, so I suggest you keep failing it until youhave enoughexprience toreach 1111 and move on since duty mission is not required.

Well, since I was in beta, I breezed through it. I only spent 3 hours to get to tier 2.

That being said (I promise I'm not beating my own drum here), practice, practice!! My first few times through were difficult as well.

This is the key to succes. Just blow away the engine or reactor and move on. Much simpler this way.

Try what DarkCobra said. After your freighter spawns, move in front of it. When the pirates spawn in, you should be able to meet one head-on and take it out. After that, I'd try moving back behind the freighter. The pirates will move in behind it, close to it, dropping right down into your crosshairs if you're set up right. Just fire on the pirate ship that is firing on your freighter and it will disengage. When the next pirate moves in, repeat. Keep them off the freighter.

My best advice is keep doing it over and over.

Ive played the game in beta for the last 3 days so all in all i had 4 days of practice when i tried this mission for the second time.

Eventually, you'll be able to dispatch the enemy ship within 30 seconds.

Also it doesnt hurt to be right in front of your escort since the enemy ships spawn in front commin front face.

when they show up,use the fact theyre most of the time targeted at your transport already and are commin straight at it to nail a lot of free shots on it.

With my training ship, when i really aim it well,i can blow one of the 2 enemy ship before it gets to the transport.

I think the best advice with anything done in space is :Keep trying.

Since its not really RPG based, you dont really get stuck by in game skill but mostly yours.

Personally i think its easier and less boring to grind "Master Mouse/Joystick Controller" than anything else ingame.

Beside, who knows you can even getfarther thanMaster
